MENSURATION BY: Yash raj, D.E.L.E.D First Year tecnia institute of teacher education

Definition of Mensuration The branch of geometry that deals with the measurement of length, area and volume.

DEFINITION OF PERIMETER Perimeter is the distance around a two dimensional shape, or the measurement of the distance around the boundary.

DEFINITION OF AREA In mathematics, the unit square is defined to have area one, and the area of any other or surface real numbers. There are several well-known formulas for areas of simple shapes such as triangles, rectangles, and circles.

DEFINITION OF VOLUME Volume is the measure of the amount of space inside of solid figure. Example: cube, ball, cylinder and pyramid. Its units are always ‘cubic’.

DEFINITION OF TOTAL SURFACE AREA Total Surface Area means all the area that you can see in two dimensions this means the length and width. The surface area of wall is everything you can paint.

DEFINITION OF LATERAL SURAFCE AREA Lateral Surface Area refers to the surface area of a 3 D object such as prism, cylinder and cone. Lateral surface area is the sum of all side of a 3D object.

SQUARE A square has equal sides and every angle is a right angle . Perimeter = 4xSide Area = Side x Side

RECTANGLE A rectangle is a four sided shape where every angle is a right angle. Perimeter= 2( l+b ) Area= Length x Width

EQUILATERAL TRIANGLE In geometry, an equilateral triangle is a triangle which all three sides are equal. Perimeter= S+S+S Area= ½ x Side x Height

SCALENE TRIANGLE A triangle with all sides and angles of different lengths is called scalene triangle. Perimeter= Side1+Side2+Side3 Area= ½ x Base x Height

PARALLELOGRAM A parallelogram is a two-dimensional shape with four sides, where the opposite sides are parallel and equal in length. Perimeter= 2( l+b ) Area= Base x Height

Trapezium A trapezium is a two dimensional, convex quadrilateral with four sides, four angles, and four vertices. Perimeter= Sum of all sides Area= ½ x Height x (sum of all parallel sides)

RHOMBUS A Rhombus, is a four-sided, or a quadrilateral, geometric figure in which all four sides are of the same length and each of the two pairs of opposite sides are parallel to each other. A rhombus is an equilateral parallelogram. Perimeter= 4 x Sides Area= ½ x D1+D2

CUBE A symmetrical three dimensional shape either solid contained by six equal squares called a cube. Total Surface Area= 6axa Lateral Surface Area= 4axa Volume= S x S x S

CUBOID A solid that has six rectangular faces at right angles at each other is called a cuboid. Total Surface Area= 6axa Lateral Surface Area= 4axa Volume= L x B x H

CYLINDER A cylinder is a geometric that is very common in everyday life. It has two called bases an they parallel to each other. Total Surface Area= 2 Curved Surface Area= 2
