Google Scholar and Microsoft Academic Search announced new functionalities that could disrupt those offered as commercial services from Thomson Reuter’s Web of Knowledge and Elsevier’s Scopus .” “Now Google Scholar is offering its own citation tracker functionality – free to use, of course – that can allow authors to calculate performance metrics such as the h -index.
