8.  DIFFUSION ROLE IN PHOTOSYNTHESIS Carbon dioxide diffuses from air (higher carbon dioxide concentration) into the leaves (lower carbon dioxide concentration). Oxygen produced diffuses from the cells in the leaves (higher oxygen concentration) into the air (lower oxygen concentration).
