WCSC Overview Module 5 Capstone Project Peer reviewed Assignment

World Cloud Sensor Computing Inc. work into five business regions, which are: Aviation and protection business Aviation is witnessing fast growth in global markets. Whether it is civil or military aviation, modern aircraft are equipped with electronics systems. Advanced sensor technology is so common in Airbus and Boeing aircraft that from an engineering perspective, airliners are becoming as much data capture platforms as they are modes of transportation. Car and transportation business The transportation industry is poised to address a number of challenges in 2022 and beyond and capitalizing on these will provide a competitive advantage for manufacturers of vehicles for this industry. WCSC's business and its business environment

Medicinal services business Medical sensors play a critical role in the safe operation of many medical devices across a wide range of applications. Sensors are used in medical devices within intensive care units, hospital wards, GP offices, lab equipment, dental practices, and in-home care products. They are also used in medical devices used to assist with the diagnosis, prevention, monitoring, and treatment of a disease or injury. In addition, medical devices used for cleaning, calibration of equipment, and examination of specimens can also incorporate the sensors. Manufacturing plant robotize business The industry has been slow to catch up on leading technologies, including overall connectivity and data collection. But this is about to change with the introduction of Industry 4.0. Manufacturers need to prepare themselves for digitization of factories, making use of analytics, artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things. WCSC's business and its business environment

Customer hardware business According to a study by Walker, customer experience will overtake product superiority and price as the key differentiator between brands in 2020. As the year progresses, more customers will prioritize exceptional buying experiences over other considerations. WCSC's business and its business environment

key challenges facing WCSC 1.The uncertainty about future: the company should be able to predict the customer and market trends, which are important since this could be the difference between brilliant future and unclear future. 2. The finance management: it will allow the company´s assets to be properly monitored and support their sustainable development 3. Technology: The market is shifting to less expensive, low power multi-function sensor systems. Whenever the technologies change rapidly, it is vital for WCSC to innovate so as not to be left behind. It is important to integrate new technologies, which is fundamental because it can generate paradigm shifts 4. Customer Service: WCSC must find ways to improve customer service and bring it into the 21st century in such a way that it can gain loyalty and overcome the risks and uncertainty generated by paradigm shifts and the coming to IoT market.

key activities and relation with value proposition

Discussion on Marketing Strategies The aim of the organization is to bring reduction in the product prices by increasing the sales unit for every product. Secondly, the organizational management is involved in determination of potential products to offer their customer in both long term and short term means. The organizational strength involves the establishment of competitive position within the manufacturing market of sensor in the United States of America on the basis of five pillars which includes customer care, efficiency in operation management, recognition of brand, customizable capabilities and technical innovation. The organization is a leading one and performing as a leader in the sensor market of the United States for their customizable services and systems of sensor. Innovation in concepts and product designing and provision of services to their customers are one of the competitive strengths of the organization. The organization has employed cross-functional managers who are responsible for adjustment and understanding of the organizationâ €™s strategy for competitiveness whereas, the organizationâ €™s weakness involves the decision making in regard to the productsâ €™ deletion or retention only on the basis of financial aspects.

1. Factory automation:  this business unit has a ROIC of 3%. It is the lowest ROIC value among the sectors by WCSC. But, as we can see in products: 10100, 10200, 10800, and 11300, even with a negative profitability, sales are growing year by year, letting us suppose to keep the lines because their strategic relevance. 2. Consumer Electronics:  this business unit has a solid ROIC of 19%. The ROIC values of the products with the product number 1, 2, 7, 8 and 11–20 are well above the Cost of Capital value. So these 4 items should be kept. According to the sales amount and profitability ratios, products numbered 3, 4, 6, 9, 10 need new product development. But, also, products that have a positive profit, like: 8, 36, 39, 44 are experiencing reduction sales in the 2013. In this case the decision should be wait-and-see. Discussion on Marketing Strategies

Healthcare:  this industry appears with a ROIC value of 32,4%. The general decision is: keep. Products like: 91040, 91110, and 91250 are profitable and have increasing sales. Products like: 91020, 91030, 91090 generate profit, but are drastically dropping sales. Because of the ROIC, and despite the strategical performance, the decision in these cases will be wait-and-see. 4. Aerospace Defence :  this business unit has a ROIC of 37,8%. Because it is over 13 percent, we should consider keeping the product in our hands. Discussion on Marketing Strategies

Recommendations WCSC is currently challenged to compete in a market that is transitioning to less expensive, lowpower multi-function sensor systems . The organization has a group of Cross-functional managerswho are responsible for understanding the competitive strategy required to be successful across theindustries . They are to examine each product’s supplier, production, trade and consumerperformance , as well as its strategic relevance to WCSC . It is advised that WCSC address several key issues to improve capital allocation and return, weshould emphasize onImproving organizational structure. Creating an integrated evaluation tool that includes- ROIC, consumer and strategic factorsAllowing balance decisions for product service retention/ deletionIncorporating the internet of things dilemma

Take Home Message The implementation of action plans associated to these recommendations will position the firm tomeet the market challenges as well as to ensure that WCSC reflects the firms’value as wellmanaged and profitable growth company, This strategic plan will enhance our products, brand andposition as a public or private firm. So the main goal is to become more innovative and customizedmaker of the sensors, and sell them at lower costs and higher profits. The activities of the SWATteam of cross- functional managers comes into effect. They lead the design of the new product andservices which is connected to the Distributors and System Integrators for distribution andintegration activities In conclusion, the decision model should consider the strategic importance of products for the customers. The ROIC of the factory automation business unit is too low so the business unit should to be closed.
