MOTIVATION

INTRODUCTION DEFINITION : Process that accounts for an individual 's intensity direction and persistency towards achieving goal. Or  To put it in a simple way it is the willingness and efforts made by an individual to achieve a goal.

KEY ELEMENTS

KEY FACTORS Intrinsic  - Purpose and meaning, Curiosity, Desires etc... Extrinsic – Rewards and punishments, Financial benefits, Recognition etc..,.

SIGNIFICANCE Increase in innovation and curiosity. Higher job commitment and involvement. Lower turnover rate and absenteeism. Higher productivity. Overall growth of the organization.

SELF DETERMINATION THEORY Self-determination theory (SDT) is a macro theory of human motivation and personality that concerns people's innate growth tendencies and innate psychological needs.

COGNITIVE EVALUATION THEORY The theory says that when we get extrinsic rewards for any job in the organization then the intrinsic motivation derived from the same job is likely to get reduced.

REINFORCEMENT THEORY Reinforcement theory  suggests that behaviors are shaped by their consequences, and that individual behaviors can be changed through reinforcement, punishment and extinction.
