This project will increase the reliability and efficiency of our digital
label imaging process. This equipment is our sole method of
postal label application for our TMC product, which contributes
$70K to the Journal Times monthly revenue. The current
equipment uses unsupported technology and has obsolete
components. The current back-up plan in case of failure at this
point is to drive three hours one way to LaCrosse for them to do
the labeling. To replace the existing equipment and technology
operational we will need to spend $24K at a minimum. This cost
is to rebuild on the existing base with new components and
install supported technology. However, this option provides no
labor savings whatsoever. By installing the Mira Label equipment
for an additional $50K compared to the unavoidable alternative,
we integrate the product labeling with our inserting process;
thereby capturing the labor annual savings ($18K). The savings
are based on the current average labeling crew size of 4
associates for 8.5 hours per week.
Replace the 4320 Video Jet digital imaging machine with the
Mira Label/Mirajet in-line labeling system. This system will
eliminate approximately (1,800) hours of labor annually.

enriching the individual and promoting lifetime learning.

As Rick’s advisor over the last two academic years, I worked closely with him on the pathways to
