To whom it may concern:
Please allow me to recommend Rick Muhammad. Rick recently completed his Bachelor of Arts degree
from Carthage College, where I was his academic advisor in the Adult Undergraduate Studies program.
Adult Undergraduate Studies at Carthage provides degree programs for non-traditional learners in
Kenosha, WI, and the surrounding communities through part-time and accelerated formats focused on
enriching the individual and promoting lifetime learning.
As Rick’s advisor over the last two academic years, I worked closely with him on the pathways to
complete his degree requirements, make the most of the opportunities available to him as a Carthage
student, and prepare for his subsequent career plans. I have witnessed his ability to make decisions with
lifetime learning as a top priority. He asks the right questions, is diligent about follow up, and seeks
excellence in everything he does. Unlike some college students, Rick thinks critically about what
combination of majors, minors, coursework, and overall experiences will most benefit him in the future.
While advising in Adult Undergraduate Studies is only required once per year, Rick was in touch with
me much more frequently to check in, make adjustments, and seek advice. I recognize the spark in him
that led him to higher education as a good fit and know that he will use his degree to lead in our
community. He is a forward thinker and a relationship builder. I highly recommend him.
If you have any further questions regarding Rick’s potential, please feel free to contact me at (262) 551-
6196 or

Sincerely,
Carrie L. Hogan Associate Director of the Center for Student Success
