Multiplying and Dividing
Decimals by 10, 100,
and 1,000
Lesson 1-8

The Basics:
•When you multiply by 10, 100, or 1,000, you
can move the decimal point to the right.
•The number of decimal places you move is
the same as the number of zeroes you are
multiplying by.
•When you divide by 10, 100, or 1,000, you
can move the decimal point to the left. Move
the decimal point once for each zero you are
dividing by.
