MULTI TESTER-TEST INSTREUMENT-FOR RAC SERVICING-

This lesson deals with the study of parts and usage of tester for servicing electrical system.

1. Measuring Tools and Instrument Multi tester- An electrical instrument used to measure voltage(ACV/DVC Source), resistance and current. INDICATOR POINTER SCALE/FACE PLATE ZERO POSITION ADJUSTER RANGE SELECTOR KNOB ZERO OHM ADJUSTER KNOB RANGE PANEL PLATE TEST PINS TEST PROBES

2. Multi-tester Basic Parts Zero Position Adjuster . This is the part of the multi-tester where to adjust the pointer if not in the extreme ZERO LINE AT THE LEFT. Ohms Adjusting Knob . A part of the tester used in adjusting the pointer to the extreme ZERO LINE at the RIGHT SIDE. Indicator Pointer . Is the finger of the tester used to indicate the reading. Range Selector Knob . Is a switching knob used in selecting what range to be used. Faceplate . Is a panel where the actual reading is seen. Test Prods . Are cords with pins used in testing outlets or electrical components Range Panel Plate . Is the panel for selecting a certain range.It can be Volts, resistance, etc.

How to read an Ohms Scale From 0-1 , it reads as; 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, then 1.0 From 1-2 , it read as; 1.2, 1.4, 1.6, 1.8, then 2.0 From 2-5 , it read as; 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, then 5.0 From 5-10 , it read as; 5.5. 6.0, 6.5, 7.0, 7.5, 8.0, 8.5, 9.0, 9.5, then 10.0 From 10-20 , it read as;11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19, the 20 From 20- 30 , it read as; 22,24,26,28,then 30 From 30-50 , it read as; 32, 34,36,38,40, … 50 From 50- 100 , it read as; 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, then 100 From 100-200 , it read as; 120, 140, 160, then, 200 From 200-500 , it read as; 250, 300, 400, then 500 From 500 -2k , it read as; 1000, 2000, to infinity.
