Ancient China , 2011 Beijing China
Ancient China is a permanent exhibition at
the National Museum of China. The exhibition
focuses on the continuous progress of
Chinese civilization and the historical course
of building a multiethnic country.
Relicase has created a variety of freestanding
cases and recessed wall cases. The biggest
challenge was making the two largest display
cases presenting the portraits of Emperor
Kangxi and Emperor Qianlong. Measuring 3m
wide x 5m high x 0.7 m deep for each
showcase, we used 27mm-thick structured
steel panels to support two pieces of glass
with a total weighing 1225.4 kg. To flatten the
paintings, we chose a rear dressing on the
back panel to create a magnetic surface.

4. THE PALACE MUSEUM

The Palace of Longevity and Health

The Palace of Longevity and Health locates
in the west of the Forbidden City. It was
ordered by Qianlong Emperor to build for
his mother, Empress Dowager Chongqing
in 1735.
Relicase was awarded the design and
supply display showcases for the
exhibition zone, specifically designed to
display 1,050 historical artifacts. A variety of
embedded wall cases with frames to
match the interior of the palace. In
addition, we designed stunning frameless
cases to present the collections of precious
Buddhist artifacts.

V&A GALLERY
In December 2017, the V&A opened its first
international gallery, in Shenzhen, China. We
were selected to be the main display showcase
suppliers for the opening exhibition Value of
Design.
The concept of interior design was to let
audiences freely visit their interests with
minimum influence. By creating a customized
open mechanism, we were able to build a set of
panoramic display showcases that met this
requirement. Also, thanks to our professional
designers and installers, the AER test was
excellent.

6. The Grand Canal (China), a UNESCO World
Heritage site, is the largest artificial river in the
world.
The museum holds more than 10,000 historical
artifacts, representing various cultural artifacts
from Chung and Qiu to the present, including
manuscripts, paintings, inscriptions, ceramics,
metalware, and more. Relicase was assigned to
design and fabricate display cases for 4
permanent and 1 temporary exhibition.

7. M7
Established by Qatar Museums, M7 is
Qatar's hub for innovation and
entrepreneurship in design, fashion, and
technology. For the first time in the Middle
East, the House of Dior unveils its 150
collections of haute couture designs.
Relicase designed and fabricated 3
cylindrical freestanding cases. The main
challenge was a tight schedule and not
being able to execute on-site installation
due to Covid-19. The solution was an easy-
assemble modular showcase design which
eased the work for local installers.

8. SHENZHEN STOCK EXCHANGE
Archive Centre
2013, Shenzhen, China

Archives Centre locates on the 8th floor of
Shenzhen Stock Exchange, displaying
collections of calligraphy and Chinese
painting.
Considering paper exhibits are fragile,
humidity control is primary. Miniclima
humidity control system was installed in a
room separating from the exhibition area,
providing unified humidity control and
minimizing noise. Anti-reflection glass and
track wall washing lights were used to
restore the actual colors of the exhibits.

9. THE GRAND BAOEN TEMPLE
Permanent Exhibition
2015, Nanjin, China
The Grand Baoen Temple is the former royal
temple in the Ming Dynasty, preserving and
displaying sacred Buddhist relics and historical
artifacts including Sakyamuni Usnisa, Induction
Sarira, Xuanzang Usnisa, and Eminent Sarira.
Relicase awarded the supply of all display cases for
the museum area. The works comprised the
design, manufacture, and installation of display
cases equipped with non-reflective glass, lighting
fixtures, and climate control. Our efforts helped
these cultural treasures come into a closer view of
visitors.

ROYAL ISLAMIC MUSEUM
2020, Brunei
The museum was founded by His Majesty
Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah for his collection of
artifacts. The vision is to be a centre to promote
Islamic knowledge and heritage worldwide.
Designed by world-renowned architect Pei
Partnership, Relicase was assigned to develop
an onion dome bespoke case for one of its main
galleries. The development was based on very
specific requirements and we were able to
provide solutions to the technical challenges.
The creation resulted in a harmonious adaption
to its surroundings of Islamic vibrant colours
and ornate arches.

11. The gallery oversees the world's largest public
collection of Singapore and Southeast Asian modern
art, with over 8,000 artworks. It consists of two
Singaporean national monuments, the former
Supreme Court Building, and the City Hall.
We collaborated with Trika and delivered all custom
storage display cases and glass cases mounted on
the original tables in the former Supreme Court.
As some key exhibits were loaned from renowned
museums including The British Museum, the team
had to strive for the highest air-tightness standard.
We developed a plan allowing all glass and steel
panels joined through an accurate interconnected
system. Singapore's Heritage Conservation Centre
(HCC) executed the on-site ODDY test, and we meet
and even access the requirement.

13. SHANGHAI ASTRONOMY
MUSEUM
Our Home
2021, Shanghai, China
Openned in 2021 and designed by Ennead, the
world's largest, 38,000㎡ - floor-area astronomy
museum is a bold initiative with a vision of "shaping
a complete view of the universe".
Relicase's contribution is the design, manufacture,
and installation of all display cases for x permanent
exhibitions, including a bespoke curved wall case,
cylindrical freestanding cases, triangle freestaing
cases, and a full-glass case for the astronomical
telescope.
Taking us out of the comfort zone of regular design,
we reinvented the design concepts to optimize
structures and appearances. Custom installation
approaches were used to make glass and steel
plinths perfectly compatible with these unique
display cases.

15. SUZHOU MUSEUM
The West Hall of Suzhou Museum has an exhibition
area of 13,391㎡, and 2,100 Su's artifacts, building upon
extraordinary excellence in the art of South of
Yangtze.
Relicase was commissioned to design, supply, and
install all display cases which clung to the artistic
design concept. The results were colossal vertical
freestanding cases, wall cases, table cases, and built-
in wall cases all bear the mark of exquisite Suzhou
craftsmanship.

Sanxingdui Museum is a Bronze-Age
archaeological site, covering an area of 33
hectares. In 2020, the museum has expanded an
exhibition area of 4,000 sqm. Overall, the
expansion has allowed more than 394 works of
golden artifacts, bronze, and jade to be exhibited.
To safely present all artifacts, we manufactured
and installed extremely high-quality freestanding
cases, recessed cases, and wall cases.
The most compelling design was a 5.5m high
cylindrical case. The access mechanism was
crucial, as it must support a 1,000kg curved glass
door sliding to open. With a custom electronic
mechanism, the floor-to-ceiling case opens
through a stunning arc sliding movement.

19. MUSEUM OF ISLAMIC
ARTS
Perminant Exhibition
2006, Doha, Qatar
Building upon an artificial island ashore in the
Persian Gulf, MIA is the most comprehensive
museum of Islamic art, representing collections of
paintings, glass crafts, metal works, manuscripts,
and textiles from three continents over 1,400 years,
The design concept by renowned interior designer
Wilmotte & Associés is to create display cases
which fade in the enviornment and support
exhibits floating in the air.
To help the designer achieve this ambitious
concept, Relicase created and installed several
frameless freestanding cases, frameless table cases
and wall cases. Custom metal brackets and metal
hanging strings were used to fix the exhibits,
creating a visual of floating in the air.

21. SHARJAH MUSEUM
OF ISLAMIC CIVILIZATION
Permanent Exhibition
2006, Sharjah, UAE
The museum, which opened in 2008, displays 5,000
artifacts of the Islamic culture. Among the exhibits
are calligraphy, metalwork, pottery, coins,
sculptures, and instruments.
This is Relicase's first experience in the UAE. We
was selected to supply all display cases, including
top-to-bottom all glass cases, frameless
freestanding cases and wall-mounted cases.

23. CHENGDU MUSEUM
Serpentiform by Bvlgari
2019, Chengdu, China
The Serpenti design has always been a
distinctive sign of Bvlgari’s jewelry. Stylized
serpent ornament reconciles a powerful vibe
with a glossy elegance. Relicase was
commissioned to provide all display cases for
the Serpentiform exbition by Bvlgari.

OF KAZAKHSTAN

The Leader of the Nation
2015, Kazakhstan
The library recognizes the establishment of the state
sovereignty of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the
historical role of President Nursultan Nazarbayev in
building an independent country as its first president. By
closely colloaborating with Hypsos Hong Kong, Relicase
designed, manufacture and install all display cases for
the project.
The sensitive archives required a very critical humidity
control and air exchange rate. Active humidity control
was installed for all display cases. Every component had
been Oddy-tested and approved by the local
conservation team.

QURAN MUSEUM
Bolgar Historical and
Archaeological Complex
2018, Bolgary, Russia
The historical and archaeological site
of Bolgar was included in the World
Cultural Heritage list by UNESCO in
2014 for its evidence of an official
acceptance of Islam by the Volga
Bulgaria.
Relicase created a Bespoke crystal
display case for the largest Quran in
the world. The case was built on an
octagram-shaped base. The part of
the glass was mounted without
pillars. Angles of glass sheets were
fitted into the form of diamond
cuttings, reflecting light beams from
side directions.
