SOUTHEAST ASIA
CAMBODIA PINPEAT A musical ensemble that usually accompanies ceremonial music of the royal courts and temples.
INDONESIA GAMELAN A musical ensemble that contains instruments such as metallophones, xylophones, kendang and gongs. Usually accompanies ritual ceremonies and special community celebrations
THAILAND Piphat A mid-sized orchestra that is performed in either outdoor style with hard mallets or indoor style with padded mallets.
MALAYSIA Agung and Kulintang A gong-based musical ensemble commonly used in funerals and weddings in east Malaysia.
RASA SAYANG(MALAYSIA) RASA SAYANG is an Indonesian folk song, literally a loving feeling is a folk song in Malay language. It is from Maluku, Indonesia, and popular in Malaysia, Singapore, and Philippines. The basis of Rasa Sayang which take form from the pantum , a traditional ethnic Malay poetic form.
BURUNG KAKATUA (INDONESIA) A traditional Indonesian folk song that comes from Ambon in the Moluccas. Burung Kakatua is about a cockatoo ( kakatua ) and the village grandmother who listens to cockatoo singing.
