2. SUMMATION The story is a hilarious piece based on human behaviour on borrowing and lending money which includes the natural tendency of human memory of the borrower and humorous failed attempts of its revival by the lender.

3. MORAL OF THE STORY The moral of the story is that small or big, one should return the money owed to others. The amount may be important for the lender. Further, it gives a great pain to the lender, if the borrower totally forgets about money borrowed. An honest man remembers the help done by friends.

4. THEMES HONESTY Honesty is a virtue that the author’s friend lacks in his life. HYPOCRISY The author expects his friend Todd to give his money back. But he is also the kind of person who forgot wherever he borrowed previously.

ACCEPTANCE The author finally accepts that he would add his friend’s name in the list of those who didn’t pay back. He also accepts that only honesty can lead to great achievements.
