Story Of Myrna A true story of Rowing Sport Team

Many years ago, there were two Ivy League schools on the East Coast - both had racing reams. One school was always successful, and each year would win the Championships. The other school was not as successful and never even made the playoffs.

The winning team always credited their success to a coxswain named Myrna. Myrna’s role as the coxswain was to keep the boat rowing straight, in sequence and working as a team. Myrna always wore black and white Saddle Shoes – they were her trademark.

In an effort to turn around the success of their rowing team, the losing school persuaded Myrna to transfer to their school and to lead their team.

Throughout the season at her new school, Myrna instilled in the team a real desire to win and taught them the importance of working together to accomplish their goals.

Through Myrna’s leadership, the team made it to the State Championships. The night before the finals, Myrna gathered the team together and praised them for their winning season.

She told them that if they pulled together as a team, they could win the race the next day. Lo-and-behold, the next morning the team won the State Championships for the very first time.

After the race, the team celebrate with a bottle of champagne signed by all the team members to commemorate the event.

Myrna know she would not be with the team for their next season. Although the team had achieved its goal of winning the State Championships

Myrna spent each day of the following week in practice and coaching, when needed, in order to prepare the team for the year

Myrna taught the team members that when you win, you never slow down your momentum – you continue to strive for future Championships

As a symbol of the team’s State Championship win, Myrna placed her Saddle shoes and the champagne bottle in the racing skull. These items remained in the boat throughout every race as a sign of the hard work and determination that go into being a champion.

Just as Myrna did, we, the Training Team, will lead you to a victory tonight and will continue to coach you. To always remind you that it was not our presence that made you a success, but your own hard work and dedication.
