Morphology Large aromatic shrub with quadrangular , densely whitish, tomentose branchlets. Bark : Thin , Colour : Grey. Leaves 3 to 5 foliolate Leaflets Lanceolate Lateral leaflets smaller than terminal ones. Flowers bluish purple Drupes : Globose
Microscopy
Stomata : Absent in the upper epidermis and plenty on lower side . Most are anomocytic. Trichomes : Both simple, covering glandular on the both the surfaces but covering are plenty on the lower surface, 1 - 3 celled uniseriate, with sharp pointed apex and bulging base . Mesophyll : Consisting of 3 rows of palisade cells. Vascular bundles protected on the both sides of paremchymatous sheath. Midrib : Collenchymatous tissue below the uper and lower epidermis. Xylem is crescent shaped.
Phloem : Phloem is parenchymatous with groups of sieve tissue. Patches : Patches of perimedullary phloem are embedded in the parenchyma tissue. Pericycle is characterised by isolated groups of lignified pericyclic fibres. Starch : It is a present throughout the parenchyma of lamina and midrib portion.

Uses In the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. Nirgundi decoction used for steam bath for joint pains . Dried leaves when smoked also said to relieve catarrh and headache . Used in sinuses and scrofulous sores. Oil is used for sloughing wounds and ulcers .
