Guardian liberty Voice, explains how "NASA spent millions of taxpayer dollars to maintain more
than thirty underutilized facilities." (Cobb). In other words NASA is using taxpayer money to
maintain launch pads that have not been used since the shuttle program. While this fact is true, there
is; however, several valid reasons for this lapse of use. Even though there are several facilities that
have most likely gone unused since the Apollo program, we have to recall that the federal
government tells NASA what their current mission is, which dictates what facilities are used. An
example of this is the rocket test stand that would have been used for the Constellation program, this

that time, a new era of space exploration seemed to be on the verge of occurrence. However, fifty
years later, NASA has seemed to have fallen from its old glory, with the United States Federal
government spending only 0.5% of the nation's federal budget on its space endeavors. With

spaceship the Orion, many opponents to governmental space exploration heavily recommend NASA
