National Company Law Tribunal is a quasi-
judicial authority created under the Companies
Act, 2013 to handle corporate civil disputes
arising under the Act and was constituted on
June 01, 2016. It is an entity that has powers
and procedures like those vested in a court of
law or judge. The National Company Law

Notification
Provisions for constitution of National Company
Law Tribunal and National Company Law
Appellate Tribunal were notified on 1st June
2016. The powers of Company Law Board are
transferred to National Company Law Tribunal
and government will move powers of High
Courts and BIFR will also be vested with
National Company Law Tribunal by a separate
notification. New powers and functions are
vested with National Company Law Tribunal
along with transfer of powers.

previous act (the Companies Act 1956);
