comunidad.

DESCRITPION

The new curriculum proposal seeks to contribute to social justice through an
educational transformation built from, with and for the community. It is a
proposal to move towards democratic citizenship, which recognizes and values
the plurality and diversity of cultures, societies and territories. It seeks a
reflection on inequality, exclusion and racism due to religion, language, the
economy, among other conditions.
From this perspective, it proposes 7 articulating axes as a curricular
component contributing to the development of a set of skills for living and
coexisting as social agents, giving value to moral principles that build a
community.
DESCRITPION

Los ejes articuladores
tienen dos funciones;
las cuales radican en
vincular el currículo
con las situaciones o
problemas de nuestra
realidad, y en ampliar
las formas en que
miramos y pensamos
los conocimientos, las
sociedades, el mundo y
la vida en general.

The articulating axes
have two functions;
which are to link the
curriculum with
situations or problems
of our reality, and to
broaden the ways in
which we look at and
think about knowledge,
societies, the world
and life in general.

ANALYSIS OF THE ARTICULATING EXES
Los ejes invitan a
revisar cada uno de
todos ellos en las
posibles situaciones
o problemas que se
identifican en la
comunidad, a fin de
desarrollar
perspectivas
amplias que
permitan llegar a
planteamientos
didácticos
integrales desde
una mirada crítica
de nuestra
realidad.

ANALYSIS OF THE ARTICULATING EXES
The axes invite
to review each
of them in the
possible
situations or
problems that
are identified in
the community,
in order to
develop broad
perspectives
that allow us to
arrive at
integral didactic
approaches from
a critical look
at our reality.

EXAMPLES

CONCLUSION
Articulating axes are parts of the curriculum that offer different ways to think,
express, act, or feel about a situation or problem in the school and the students’
context.
Their goal is to give a human meaning to school activities, allowing reflection,
questioning, and action to change reality.
A community problem can be addressed from one or several axes. Teachers decide
which is the most relevant to address. The relationship between the axes and
educational content is flexible. It depends on the joint work of students and teachers
and helps connect teaching with the daily life of the school community.

QUESTIONS

How should the English class be?
An English class should be interactive, engaging, and student-centered. It should focus on developing the four key language skills: listening, speaking, reading,
and writing. The class should incorporate a variety of activities such as group discussions, role-plays, multimedia resources, and real-life scenarios to make
learning practical and enjoyable.
What is the focus of the subject in secondary school?
In secondary school, the focus of English classes is to enhance students’ communicative competence. This includes improving their ability to understand and
produce spoken and written English in various contexts. The curriculum aims to develop critical thinking, cultural awareness, and the ability to use English for
academic and everyday purposes.
What elements should an English class have to be effective and meet the focus?
An effective English class should include:
Clear Objectives: Defined learning goals for each lesson.
Interactive Activities: Group work, discussions, and hands-on activities.
Authentic Materials: Use of real-life texts, audio, and video.
Assessment: Regular formative and summative assessments to track progress.
Feedback: Constructive feedback to help students improve.
Cultural Context: Exposure to different cultures through language.
What are the pedagogical and didactic foundations of teaching English?
The pedagogical and didactic foundations of teaching English include:
Communicative Language Teaching (CLT): Focuses on interaction as both the means and the ultimate goal of learning.
Task-Based Learning (TBL): Uses meaningful tasks to promote language use.
Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL): Integrates content learning with language learning.
Differentiated Instruction: Tailoring teaching to meet individual needs.
Formative Assessment: Ongoing assessments to inform instruction.

What do I know about the NEM (New Mexican School)?
The New Mexican School (Nueva Escuela Mexicana, NEM) is an educational model introduced to transform the
Mexican education system. It emphasizes inclusivity, equity, and quality education for all students. The NEM aims
to develop critical thinking, creativity, and social responsibility among students1.
What does the NEM say about teaching English?
The NEM emphasizes the importance of English as a global language and its role in providing students with better
opportunities in the globalized world. It advocates for a communicative approach to teaching English, focusing on
practical usage and cultural understanding2.
What is the teaching strategy proposed by the NEM for the English class?
The NEM proposes a teaching strategy that includes:
Student-Centered Learning: Encouraging active participation and collaboration.
Integrated Skills Approach: Teaching listening, speaking, reading, and writing in an integrated manner.
Use of Technology: Incorporating digital tools and resources to enhance learning.
Cultural Awareness: Promoting understanding of different cultures through language learning2.

How should the lesson planning for the English class be according to the NEM?
Lesson planning according to the NEM should include:
Clear Learning Objectives: Specific goals for what students should achieve.
Engaging Activities: Interactive and meaningful tasks.
Assessment Methods: Formative and summative assessments to evaluate progress.
Differentiation: Adapting lessons to meet diverse student needs.
Reflection: Opportunities for students to reflect on their learning2.
How is an English class planned?
An English class is planned by:
Setting Objectives: Defining what students should learn.
Designing Activities: Creating tasks that promote language use.
Selecting Materials: Choosing appropriate texts, audio, and visual aids.
Assessment: Planning how to measure student progress.
Feedback: Providing constructive feedback to guide improvement.
Reflection: Allowing time for students to reflect on their learning experience.
