Antecedentes 01
El modelo humanista nace a mediados del siglo XX, conocido como la tercera fuerza de la psicología y su aparición es provocado por la oposición a los métodos terapéuticos tradicionales que no tomaban en cuenta otros aspectos componentes del ser humano, como la emoción, la espiritualidad entre otros.
Sometido a influencias de tres tipos Filosóficas Sociales y culturales Psicológicas Rechazo de las dos posiciones dominantes conductismo y psicoanálisis por ofrecer una visión al mundo del ser humano deshumanizada, reduccionista, mecanicista y determinista.
Los postulados principales de la psicología humanista son: El hombre es más que la suma de sus partes. Lleva a cabo su existencia en un contexto humano. Tiene intenciones sus propósitos sus experiencias valorativas su creatividad y la comprensión de los significados. Es consciente. Tiene capacidad de elegir.

Ludwig Bingswanger (1881-1966) Consideraba que las actividades humanas en las que el hombre trasciende el ambiente (como el amor o la creatividad) no estaban adecuadamente tratadas en el psicoanálisis freudiano
Bingswanger propuso que el punto de partida para comprender la personalidad es la tendencia humana a percibir significados en los sucesos y, por ello, ser capaz de trascender las situaciones concretas.
William James Es en un autor de la importancia para la psicología, en quien podemos ver que el humanismo propone, en cuanto que método de conocimiento, romper con todo absolutismo y con toda negación de la variedad y espontaneidad de la experiencia.
El pensador humanista preferirá una mayor flexibilidad en la descripción de lo real aunque eso suponga una pérdida de la exactitud racionalista. Estas características del humanismo rechazo del absolutismo y preferencia por la flexibilidad frente a la exactitud racionalista-, suponen que los conocimientos más relevantes sobre el ser humano se obtendrán focalizándose en los fenómenos puramente humanos tales como el amor, la creatividad o la angustia.
En el movimiento de la salud mental, entendida muchas veces como higiene mental, se inició con el intento de reintegrar a las personas curadas a su vida normal. Su resultado era mejorar el tratamiento y clarificar el papel desempeñado por la perturbación psicológica y mental en la educación del niño, el trabajo, los negocios y la criminología.
