New7Wonders of the World  (2000–2007) was an initiative started in 2000 as a Millennium project to choose Wonders of the World from a selection of 200 existing monuments .  The popularity poll was led by Canadian-Swiss Bernard Weber and organized by the New7Wonders Foundation based in Zurich, Switzerland, with winners announced on 7 July 2007 in  Lisbon . 3

They are called the new seven wonders of the world. They are the monuments that won an international competition conducted by a private company named New Open World Corporation, and inspired by the list of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World Countries that host the New Seven Wonders of the modern world. 5

1st: MACHU PICCHU Machu Picchu is an ancient Andean village built in the mid-fifteenth century. It was used as a religious shrine. 6

On July 7, 2007 Machu Picchu was declared as one of the new seven wonders of the modern world It is located in southern Peru at an altitude of 2,438 meters 7

2nd: CHICHEN ITZA Chichen Itza is a Mayan city founded around 525 BC as one of the most important political centers of the time Chichén Itzá inside 8

It was declared a wonder of the world on July 7, 2007 It is located on the peninsula of Yucatan, Mexico 9

3rd: COLOSSEUM OF ROME The COLOSSEUM is an amphitheater of the Roman Empire period, built in the first century The COLOSSEUM was used for gladiator fights, hunting animals or simulations of naval battles 10

4th: CHRIST THE REDEEMER The Christ the Redeemer statue is a 38-meter image of Jesus of Nazareth with open arms facing the city and port of Rio de Janeiro 12

It was inaugurated on October 12, 1931. Is considered one of the largest statues in the world. Receives 700,000 visits a year Is located in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on an altitude of 709 meters above sea level 13

5th: PETRA Petra is an important archaeological site. It is a city built, carved and sculpted in stone Petra Inside 14

Founded towards the end of seventh century and chosen as a wonder of the world in 2007. It was a religious sanctuary, political and cultural. It’s located in Jordan, 200 km south of its capital, Amman 15

6th: TAJ MAHAL The  Taj   Mahal  is a complex of buildings built between 1631 and 1654 in the city of Agra by an emperor in memory of his favorite wife, which is buried. Inside of the Taj Mahal 16

Is one of the major tourist attractions in India, receiving about 7,000,000 visitors a year. It is located in the city of Agra, India 17

7th: THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA The Great Wall of China is an ancient fortress built in the 5th century to protect the northern border of the Chinese empire Is estimated to be 8851.8 km long, although to date only retains 30% of it. Approximately 10 million workers died during construction 18

  It is said that the wall is visible from space, but has been shown to be false The wall runs across northern China from east to west 19

GREAT PYRAMID OF GIZA The Giza Necropolis in EGYPT, the only remaining wonder of the ancient world, it was granted as honorary site. It was built in 7 th century BC having 481 ft height, the tallest man-made structure in the world for more than 3,800 years… 20
