Shopfront In the context of a newspaper, the term  shopfront  isn’t commonly used in the traditional sense. However, it can metaphorically refer to the  front page  of the newspaper, which serves as the "shopfront" for readers. Just like a physical shopfront attracts customers with its display, the front page is designed to grab the reader's attention with key headlines, prominent stories, and impactful images. It acts as the newspaper's showcase, enticing people to buy or read further.

The Masthead The masthead is where the brand name (The Guardian), strapline, date, and price will all be found in a newspaper. The strapline The date, price, and an advert for their subscription to the paper.

Teasers The teasers are located next to the masthead. They are used to give clues to the viewer as to what else is withing the newspaper. This is done because if the front cover of the newspaper doesn’t seem to interest the reader by viewing the header, lead, and off lead, they then know about 2-3 other stories reported in other pages of the newspaper.

The use of Images In this case, the image is related to the offlead , however this is not always the case. This is because the image could be for another story withing the newspaper and will then therefore have written on the image, indicating which page and story the image leads to In this case, the image is highly emotional, which draws the viewers attention to severity of the cause it is talking about. Its purpose is to raise awareness about what is occurring in Gaza which is a very big issue currently. The images usually are suitable for the mood and tone of the article and served a purpose in aiding the story get its meaning across.

Header In a newspaper, a  header  refers to the title or section heading that appears at the top of a page or article. It typically includes the name of the newspaper, the date, page number, and sometimes the issue number. In modern usage, the term may also refer to the headline or the main title of a specific article, although that is more commonly called a "headline." The header serves to provide context and structure, helping readers navigate the content

layout The  layout  in a newspaper refers to the arrangement and design of content on each page. This includes the placement of headlines, articles, images, advertisements, and other elements in a way that is visually appealing and easy to read. A well-designed layout helps guide the reader's eye through the newspaper, emphasising important stories while maintaining a balance between text, images, and white space

Pull quote A pull quote is a  typographical technique  in which an excerpt or quote from an article is reprinted within the article in larger text and using a different formatting style so that it jumps out at the reader. Common in magazines and newspapers, they are easily spotted as a chunk of text which is set apart from the rest of an article.

PRACTIC BRIEF TWO: CODES AND CONVENTIONS RESEARCH + USING FOUND IMAGES Here I created a version of The Guardian newspaper, however this is aimed at the youth, for teenagers, 16-25 year olds. I used photoshop to create this newspaper front cover. I decided to put topics that I get come up on my social media often, that is because it is "trending" and a similar audience that views these topics online, will be reading the guardian youth. The story of P- diddy is insanely popular on social media, especially tiktok – those who view these videos, will be within the same range as 16-25.
