NISARGOPACHAAR CHIKITSA (PRAKRITIKA CHIKITSA ) / NATUROPATHY TREATMENT :

DIET TYPES- SOOTHING, ELIMINATIVE, CONSTRUCTIVE, AND POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE DIET, ACIDIC AND ALKALINE DIET. Food is considered as medicine in naturopathy. Natural food eliminates toxins from the body and enhances the vital energy and immunity. POSITIVE FOOD: Healthy food Alkaline in nature Light and easily digestible Rich in cellulose Rich in vitamin and minerals Helps in elimination the toxins from the body Non mucus food Examples- vegetables and fruits

NEGATIVE FOOD: Unhealthy food Acidic in nature Heavy and constipating Refined food Rich in carbohydrates, protein and fat Promotes accumulation of the toxins in the body Mucus producing food Examples- cereals, pulses, milk, egg, nuts, non vegetarian food ELIMINATIVE DIET: Lemon juice Fruit juice Coconut water Vegetable soups Butter milk

SOOTHING DIET: Fruit juices, buttermilk, vegetable soups, vegetable juices, salads, boiled vegetables, wheat and rice preparations, ripe fruits of all sorts are of great value because they contain germ- destroying acids. RULES FOR DIET IN NATUROPATHY: Diet should be taken in fixed time. Diet should not be taken unless the previous diet is already digestible. Overeating should not be done. During the meals one should be happy and quiet. Water should be taken in less quantity with meals. Fruits and salads are compulsory in diet. CONSTRUCTIVE DIET: Curds, milk, boiled vegetables, chapatis , rice, dal etc. NOTE: Meats, tea, coffee etc are strictly excluded.

NATURE CURE TREATMENTS FOR VARIOUS COMMON DISEASES: 1, ABDOMINAL PAIN: Treatment: (1). Fast for a day or two. (2).Take a worm water enema daily for two or three days, and then alternate days. (3). Apply a mud pack or wet pack on abdomen. (4). Take light diet. 2. ACIDITY (HYPERACIDITY): Treatment: (1). Take simple food. (2). Apply a mud pack for 25 to 30 minutes on the abdomen part. (3). Do not take fried food, oily and more sweets. 3. ANAEMIA: Treatment: (1). Take food rich in iron and vitamin b. (2). Take vegetables, fresh fruits, pulses. (3). Sun baths early in the morning or evening time. (4). Walk in fresh air. (5). Take deep breaths.

4. ASTHMA: Treatment: (1). Avoid the foods which causes phlegm. (2). Intake of rice, milk, curds, sweets, meat etc. (3). Walk in early in the morning. (4). Cold hip-baths once or twice a day. (5). Exercises and deep breathing techniques. (6). Avoid addictions, 5, CHOLERA: Treatment: (1). Give warm water enema immediately as soon as possible. Enema should repeated every 8 to 10 hours. (2). Give plenty of water, fruits juices, lemon juices and other similar fruit juices added. (3). Hip-baths and mud packs are given. 6. COMMON COLD: Treatments: (1). Fast for one or two days. (2). Enema of hot water for two days. (3). Cold things are avoided.

7. CONSTIPATION: Treatment: (1). Enema is the best and quickest remedy for immediate relief of constipation. (2). Plenty of vegetables, raw foods, fruits, whole wheat chapattis must be taken. (3). Try to form regular habits of evacuating the bowels. (4). Hip-baths, mud packs and wet packs on the abdomen applied. 8. COUGH: Treatment: (1). Fast for one to two days. (2). Enema for one or two days. (3). A wet chest pack, 2 or 3 packs in a day are recommended. (4). Steam inhalation, deep breathing techniques helps to cure cold. 9. DIABETES: Treatment: (1). Most important measure is diet. (2). Dynamic exercises are advised and walk for 4 to 5km. (3). Reduce the weight.

10. FEVER: Treatment: (1). No food should be taken till the fevers subsides. (2). Clean the intestine by taking enema every day. (3). Apply mud pack on lower abdomen 2 or 3 times per day. (4). Apply forehead pack or full sheet pack on the body. 11. FISSURES: Treatments: (1). Fast for 2 to 3 days. Daily enema should be taken. (2). Cold hip- baths are very beneficial. (3). Sitz bath can be taken. 12. GAS TRABLE: Treatment: (1). Only light food, easily digestible with plenty of fibrous material should be taken. (2). Enema is necessary. (3). Hip- baths and abdominal mud packs are highly beneficial.

13. GASTRIC ULCER: Treatment: (1). Take simple unspiced food. (2). Direct application of mud on the abdomen for half an hour before food. (3). Magnetized water is very use full. 14. HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE: Treatment: Food containing very small proportion of salt and fats, and rich vitamin B, E and magnesium are ideal food for high blood pressure. 15. INFLUENZA (FLU): Treatment: (1). Fast for as long as possible. (2). Take warm enemas daily for two or three days. (3). Chest pack. (4). Fomentation for face or steam can be taken.

16. JAUNDICE: Treatment: (1). Enema with cold water every morning. (2). Fast for one or two days. (3). Take liquid diet or fruits juices like lemon, bitter- gourd, radish, leafy, jamuns , ect . (4). Alternate baths. (5). Abdominal mud packs are very useful. 17. MALERIA: Treatment: (1). Enema with hot water. (2). Apply full sheet pack, but kep hands and feet warm with hot water bag. (3). Steam bath can be given. (4). Alternate hot and cold applications should be administered to the abdomen over the liver. 18. MENSTRUAL DISORDER: Treatment: (1). Take due care to prevent constipation. (2). Hip- bath every day. Hot and cold baths are very beneficial. (3). Avoid fried preparations and sweets. (4). Fomentation on lower abdomen or mud pack should be taken.

19. NAUSEA AND VOMITING: Treatment: (1). Advised to avoid all kinds of food. (2). Sucking pieces of ice may reduce nausea and vomiting. (3). Hot water to drink. 20. OVERWEIGHT: Treatment: (1). Restrictions on diet. No high proportion of carbohydrates. Fruits and raw vegetables are major part of the food. (2). Perform physical exercises daily. (3). No day sleep. 21. Piles: Treatments: (1). If the disorder is a long standing one, begin fast for 3 to 4 days. (2). Do not allow constipation to persist. Take enemas. (3). Take hip- bath twice a day. (4). Constipated food should be avoided.

23. SLEEPLESSNESS: Treatment: (1). Have a evening meal early. (2). Take a long walk of 3 to 4 kilometers after meals. (3). Take a hot water bath before going to bed. 24. TONSILITIS: Treatment: (1). Take lemon or orange juice in water. (2). Gargling with hot water relieves the pain in the throat. (3). Application of wet clay externally on the throat affords quick relief from the inflammation and soreness. (4). Wet pack on the throat also quite good results in tonsils. 25. VERICOSE VEINS: Treatment: (1). Fasting for 1 or 2 days. Liquid diet for 1or 2 days. Raw vegetables for 1 or 2 days. (2). Daily enemas throughout the week. (3). Cold water spinal bath and alternate hip-baths are very good.
