‘I am medically trained, we signed this Geneva Convention, a patient is a patient, a casualty is a casualty whether he or she is an enemy or not. If somebody comes and they are injured, in war you are to give care even if the person is an enemy and you try and save his or her life’ Owen Bernard on treating Argentinian solders in the Falklands Case study

‘You don’t panic in situations, you panic afterwards. And this is where post-traumatic stress come in…. You block the emotions out the way because you’ll make mistakes. You cannot let emotions guide you in situations like that. People will die and your job is to save lives.’ Owen Bernard on serving in the Falklands What does service mean for those serving?
