2. Rajasthani Wedding Pre Wedding Rituals Engagement Exchange of rings as part of the acceptance of each other. Blessings of the elders and the pre marriage feast for the relatives and friends. Ganpati Sthapana   Blessings are taken from the Lord Ganesha for a successful marriage .

3. Pithi Dastoor  involves the application of Turmeric/ Haldi paste on the hands and feet of the Bride/ Groom in their respective homes Mehfils is set in the premises of the home of either of Bride and Bridegroom. Members of both families gather to see the famous dance of Rajasthan called the Ghoomar Dance

4. Janeva Ceremony On the morning of the marriage, the Groom is dressed in saffron robes. He is supposed to perform a Havan ( prayer before Fire God), in which he wears a pious thread . Palla Dastoor   On the wedding day, in the early morning hours, the Grooms Father and Brothers come to the Brides house with Gifts of  Jewellery  and Wedding  dress  for the Bride Toran   The entrance of the brides home is decorated with flowers and straw and this is called as Toran . The groom hits the Toran with a Straw to ward off the Evil Eye from his to be Bride. This Ceremony is called the Toranchar .

5. Granthi Bandhan After applying some turmeric paste on the Girls hand, the father of the Bride gives her hand in the hands of the Groom. This signifies that he is passing on his responsibility to the Groom. This Ritual is called Kanyadan - Kanya meaning Daughter and Daan meaning Giving. Paani Grahan   In this Ceremony, the Groom takes the Right Hand of the Bride in his hand thus taking her responsibility for lifetime.  Wedding Rituals

6. Bidai  : After all the ceremonies are done, the Girl/ Bride is handed over to the Boy/Groom. Now she is sent along her better half by her relatives. undergone the Bidai Ceremony). Phera Ceremony   After taking the Brides responsibility, the Bride and the Groom go round the fire seven times. This act is called Pheras. Satapadi   After going round the fire, the Bride and the Groom now take Seven steps together towards the Sun Gods Direction. It signifies that from now onwards both of them will walk together in all the situations of life - whether good or bad. Now both proclaim themselves as Man and Wife .

8. Bengali Wedding Pre Wedding Rituals Pre wedding rituals start with Vridhi Puja , which is done to remember the ancestors of the bride and the groom. This is followed by Dodhi Mangal ceremony, wherein ten married women bathe bride and groom. Next is the Gae Halud Tattva ritual , in which the bride is sent gifts by her in laws. The next is the Snan ritual , in which married women apply turmeric and oil to the couple

9. Wedding Rituals The wedding day rituals begin with welcoming the groom. An elderly female relative welcomes the groom with baran dala. It is a plate which is first touched to the forehead of the groom, then touched to the ground and then again touched to his forehead. The next is the Shubho Drishti ritual, wherein the bride and the groom see each other for the first time.  This is followed by Mala Badal ceremony , wherein they exchange garlands.

10. The most important rituals on he wedding day are Saat Paak , during which the bride is seated on a wooden plank and lifted by her brothers. Thereafter she is taken around the groom seven times, which signifies their union. In Sampradhan ritual the paternal and maternal uncles of the bride, give her away to the groom. After this, the Saptadi ritual takes place

11. Post Wedding Rituals After the wedding the Basar Ghar ceremony takes place, wherein the newly wed couple is treated warmly and served delicious food. On the next morning the Bashi Biye ritual takes place in which the groom applies vermilion on the bride's forehead. After this, the Bidaai ceremony is held and the bride leaves with the groom for her mrital abode. The first ceremony at groom's place is Bou Baran , which is a welcome ceremony for the bride. The bride submerges her feet in a plate containing lac dye and milk and enters the house, leaving imprints. The next is the Bou Bhat ceremony . It is held as the bride eats her first meal in her husband's house

13. KASHMIRI WEDDING Pre-wedding rITUALS Vaana is a formal engagement or commitment ceremony.  The two parties meet in a temple and and exchange flowers that symbolizes the formalization of the ceremony. The bride's family invite the groom party for a meal that comprises traditional Kashmiri food. Livun Cleansing of the houses of both the bride and the groom before wedding is known as Livun .

14. Wanwun is the next part of the pre-marriage rituals is held a few days before wedding. Wanwun are actually music sessions that are held every evening at both and are attended by the relatives and neighbours of both sides Maanziraat - The ceremony begins with krool khanun , a ceremony for decorating the main entrance of both the houses. In Krool khanun is followed by an elaborate bathing of the bride. After bath, the oldest aunt of the bride decorated her hand with henna or maanz .

26. The Mangal Sutra Dharana is the tying of the thread containing the marks of the Vishnu or Shiva on the neck of the bride by the groom. Aashirvaad (Blessing)
