2. Composition of CCO. Base Plate (Substrate Material): The base plate provides the structural strength and acts as a foundation for the wear-resistant overlay. Common materials include: Mild steel (low carbon steel):
Carbon content: 0.05–0.25%. 2. Overlay (Wear-Resistant Layer): The overlay layer is the primary wear-resistant component and is formed by depositing a hard facing alloy through welding processes such as open arc welding or submerged arc welding.
