•Something that you are trying to achieve.
•Objective is a set of a small target that help to
achieve goals.
•Why objective is required?
Objectives are needed in every area because
-It improve the performance .
-It help to achieve goals.

Objectives vs goals
Objective is short term.
Plan to achieve goals.
Goal is a long term.
Goal is a final destination.

Characteristics
•SMARTis an acronym that outlines basic
characteristics of a good, workable objective.
•Specific: The objective should be specified and
detailed.
•Measurable: It must be measurable so it can
be objectively assessed. In other words, easy
to quantify.
•Attainable: Employees and others must be
able to reach the objective.
•Relevant: Realistic objectives are more likely to
be met.
•Time-bound: There should be a time frame
and deadline associated with the objective.

Types of objectives
-On the basis of Levels
Within the organization there are three levels of objectives:
•Strategic objectives :Broad statements of where the
organization wants to be in the future are called
strategic goals.
•Tactical objectives:The results that major divisions and
departments within the organization intend to achieve are
defined as tactical objectives.
•Operational objectives: The specific results expected
from departments, work groups, and individuals are the
operational objectives.

-On the basis of Time
•Long term: 0-1 years
•Mid term: 1-3 years
•Short term: Long more than 3 years
