Overview of Duodenal Atresia Definition: Congenital obstruction of the duodenum. Epidemiology: Incidence: Approximately 1 in 5,000 live births. Associated anomalies: Down syndrome, cardiac defects. Types: Type I: Web Type II: Atresia with a proximal and distal connection Type III: Complete obstruction Discussion

Management and Surgical Interventions Initial Management: NGT  NPO (nothing by mouth). IV fluids and electrolyte correction. Surgical Approach: Laparotomy for identification of atresia. Types of surgical procedures: Duodenoduodenostomy . Duodenojejunostomy (if needed). Postoperative Care: Monitoring for complications such as leakage or infection. Discussion
