OP Art Op Art is an abbreviation of 'optical art' and the term came into regular use in the mid-1960s. The style is characterized by abstract patterns, often in black and white, with a stark contrast between background and foreground.

F amous artists of Op A rt Bridget Riley and Victor Vasarely  were two of the most important op artists. Look at the way shapes, colors and light and dark shades are used in these op artworks to change the way 2D images appear.

In industries use of O ptical Art Most Op Art works are abstract and are colored black and white. Op art also creates visual tension on the eyes which gives the sense of movement and illusion. In 1965 an art exhibition was in New York called ‘The Responsive Eye’ which launched the craze of Op Art. When the craze of Op Art started, it began to appear on anything and everything. Clothes, advertising, stationery, and fabrics.

Op Art has since developed its way into fabric furnishing, influenced by its colors and patterns. Barbara Brown was a known designer for Op Art influenced in furnished fabrics. It was all about the prints, and still is, so Op Art is still a major part of fashion today. An Op Art artist who is still in the art world today is Eley Kishimoto . Her Op Art work has been used on motorbike helmets.
