Unit 1: Introduction: Concept, meaning and definition of Women entrepreneur and Women entrepreneurship, Characteristics and Types of entrepreneurs, Functions of Women entrepreneur, evolution of Women Entrepreneurship in India, Entrepreneurial skills and competency requirements for women entrepreneur, Role of Women entrepreneurship in economic development. (15 Hours) Unit 2: Opportunities and challenges faced by women entrepreneurs: Challenges faced by Women entrepreneurs, Opportunities for an entrepreneurial career, measure to improve women entrepreneurship, factors influencing the women entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial motivation concept. (10 Hours) Unit 3: Role of financial institution in support of women entrepreneurial activities: SIDBI, DIC, CEDOK, RUDSETI, SFC, EDII, KVIC, (objectives and functions), Long term and Short term financing. Women empowerment through Entrepreneurship Development Programmes. (15 Hours) Unit 4: Government Schemes and Institutional support to Promote Women Entrepreneur: Trade Related Entrepreneurship Assistance and Development (TREAD) scheme for Women, AWAKE, WIMA, NAYE, Mahila Coir Yojana, Mahila Udyam Nidhi, Stand-up India, Annapurna Scheme, Stree Shakti Package For Women Entrepreneurs, Bharatiya Mahila Bank Business Loan, Dena Shakti Scheme, Udyogini Scheme, Cent Kalyani Scheme, Mahila Udyam Nidhi Scheme, Mudra Yojana Scheme For Women, Orient Mahila Vikas Yojana Scheme, etc. (20 Hours) Unit 5: Project Identification and Formulation: Meaning of project, project identification, project selection, project formulation: meaning, significance, contents, formulation steps, Planning Commission’s Guidelines for formulating a Project report, Specimen of a project report. (10 Hours)

A woman entrepreneur plays an important role in India to the wake of globalization and economic liberalization. Women entrepreneurship is very important concepts for development of the country.

Woman Entrepreneurs in India – Scope of Opportunities for Women Entrepreneurs in Urban Areas Women entrepreneurship is very important concepts for development of rural areas. Rural Entrepreneurship can create new economic opportunities for rural women and contribute to overall growth and leaving from poverty. There is a substantial contribution of women rural entrepreneurs in the growth of developed rural areas but the development of women entrepreneurship in rural areas is very low because the rural women’s are face more challenges and problems.

There are around seven lakh villages in India and also that more than 70% of our population live in villages of half are women. Rural women represent a sizeable percentage of labor force in our country yet; they have not been brought under the main stream of development. The rural women may be mobilized and may lead to the nation towards the path of progress and prosperity. The rural women by all means can be very effective agents of change for better homes, better society and ultimately for robust economy in the present global scenario. Rurla women constitute a major segment of the Indian population and due to their pivotal role in the nation building is significant. Due to lack of education they are less likely to get employment. Further low family income also requires them to go for self-employment i.e , entrepreneurship.

Government has given more importance for agro -based products and allied products. The following are the opportunities for women in rural areas. Natural flair and instinct for food preparing and processing. Processing of fruits and vegetables in the form of baby foods. Ice Cream. Convenience food. Cold drinks. Traditional medicine preparations etc. Papads . Pickles. Readymade garments. Food Industry.

Vijaya Deshmukh got married, her husband barely earned Rs. 200 a month and managing household expenses became a monthly struggle. When her neighbours praised her black masala and suggested she start taking orders – Vijaya fortuitously learned about the Mann Deshi Foundation’s masala-making workshops. Knowing that Indian households cherish fresh masalas – Vijaya decided to start selling her own range of masalas and chutneys. Vijaya needed a simple and effective way to start building and reaching out to her customer base, that’s when she turned to WhatsApp. Two years since integrating WhatsApp into her business, she says “50 percent of my customers contact me through WhatsApp.” Now Vijaya is earning 10,000 per month and has even trained 800 ladies in the art of masala making – all from the comfort of her home.

Woman Entrepreneurs in India – Scope of Opportunities for Women Entrepreneurs in Urban Areas The modern world women has been able to overcome the hurdle of society’s perception of considering them to the confined to the four walls of the house or viewing them as weak entrepreneurs caught up in limited business area such as papad making, pickle preparation food items, paintings, handicrafts, etc. They have been able for show a remarkable shift from these small entrepreneurs at ventures to modern technology-based business ventures, service industry, etc.
