What is SpEECh Context?

Speech context refers to the situation or environment in which communication takes place. It influences how we speak, what we say, and how our message is received. Here are the main types of speech contexts:

1. Intrapersonal Communication -refers to communication that centers on one person where the speaker acts both as the sender and the receiver. Self talk Internal dialogue with your self

2.Interpersonal Communication This refers to communication between and among people and establishes a personal relationship between and among them.

TWO (2) TYPES OF INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION Dyad Communication- communication that occurs between two people.

Examples: Your teacher conducted a home visitation and talk with your mother. You provided comfort to a friend who was feeling down

TWO (2) TYPES OF INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION 2. Small Group Communication – communication that involves at least three but not more than twelve people engaging in a face-to-face interaction to achieve a desired goal.

Examples: The language teachers of your school are having a meeting for the upcoming National Reading Month. Your group leader distributes and discusses your roles in your presentation.

3.PUBLIC COMMUNICATION This type refers to communication that requires you to deliver or send the message before or in front of a group.

Example: The guest speaker challenges the completers to aim for a better life during a moving-up ceremony.

4. MASS COMMUNICATION - This refers to communication that takes place through television, radio, newspapers, magazines, books, billboards, internet, and other types of mass media.

Examples Magnolia browses current information and events through the internet. Robert reads a newspaper to keep himself updated with the latest issues.
