Research on the following: Group 1 – Similarities between Chinese and Filipinos Group 2 – Similarities Americans and Europeans Group 3 – Similarities Asians and Americans Group 4 – Differences between Asians and Americans Group 5 – Differences between Americans and Europeans Group 6 – Differences between those from Manila and those from the provinces Use appropriate graphic organizer to present your answer. Use manila paper. Report your answer in the class.

INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION

It is the exchange of messages between and among people with diverse cultures. Cultural beliefs and practices are distinct; hence you need to consider the culture of the person to avoid misunderstanding. It requires knowledge and skills.

The Sociocultural Dimension of Communication

CULTURE It is symbolic communication. Some of its symbols include a group's skills, knowledge, attitudes, values, and motives. 

GENDER

AGE

SOCIAL STATUS It refers to one's standing in the community and his position in the social hierarchy.

RELIGION

Inappropriate Act: 3. Preventing people from practicing religious freedom Preventing people from doing religious practices. Disallowing people from distributing religious publication. Not allowing people to talk about their religion freely and comfortably.

ROLL IT! GROUP 1: CULTURE GROUP 2: AGE GROUP 3: GENDER GROUP 4: SOCIAL STATUS GROUP 5: RELIGION Criteria: Showmanship – 30, Mastery – 15, Content – 40, and Overall Appeal – 15 Role play a situation shows intercultural communication while highlighting sensitivity on sociocultural dimension based on culture, gender, age, social status, and religion.
