Wisdom lessons from the Ant
Anyone who keeps learning stays young. Anyone who stops learning is
old, whether at twenty or eighty.
Lessons from the ant – Planning
The ants plan ahead of time, they foresee things and prepare
for it. pre(advance) pare(get ready).
Proverbs 30:24-25
“Four things on earth are small, yet they are
extremely wise:
25
Ants are creatures of little strength, yet they
store up their food in the summer; You don’t have to be big to
be mighty or effective!
`“You lazy people, you should watch what the ants do and learn
from them. Ants have no ruler, no boss, and no leader. But in
summer, ants gather all their food and save it, so when winter
comes there is plenty to eat.”
“ Make no little plans, Make the biggest plan you can think of.”
Lessons from the ant – Execute, Tactfully and Persistently
Lessons from the ant - Focus
Are small but are very focused
Focus on the lost;
Focus on the kingdom of God
Is a symbol of purpose.
No time to look for the past,
present.
Fall away from a past that
prevents you from seeing the potential ahead
Be ready to look like a fool when preparing.
Know that you have limited amount of time. You can win souls
in your lifetime.
Life is not just a few years to spend in self-indulgence and
career advancement. It is a privilege, a responsibility, a
stewardship to be lived according to a much higher calling
Lessons from the ant - Unity
United we stand, divided we fall
The ants move in unity,
they have an unbelievable
spirit of unselfish unity.
When they find something
edible, they pass on the
information to other ants
and in quick time they
have all gathered
around the food.
Colossians 2:2-3(NIV)
2
My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in
love, so that they may have the full riches of complete
understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God,
namely, Christ,
3
in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom
and knowledge.
Lessons from the ant – Team Work
TEAM- Together Everybody Achieve More
Though the ants are tiny, but together they are a great army
Each individual ant may be weak but together they are strong.
Delegation of authority:- Each ant has its own responsibility,
one is carrying food, another moving materials, another
tunneling, another searching for food.
Teamwork multiplies effectiveness. When members of a team
are rightly positioned and fully engaged, mountains can be
moved.
Lessons from the ant – Self Confidence
Ants are not intimidated by size of their workload (Dream)!
Ants are a team, if a grain is too heavy for one to pull alone,
quickly others join it to pull together.
“The ants take decision as a team but depend on one another
to survive.”
Lessons from the ant – Good Organization
Ants don’t just leave their “fellow ants“ alone when carrying
huge objects, they help each other making it possible for
them to achieve their goals.
They are so organized in how they carry out their tasks that
they are able to accomplish it no matter how big the task is.
Lessons from the ant – Hard Work
They carry things bigger than they are, not because they are as
strong as superman but because they are hard working,
committed, and determined.
The ants plan ahead of time, they foresee things and prepare for
it.
Stick your teeth in and drag it in!
Lessons from the ant – They Metamorphosise
Example of J C Penny
1898 – Established Golden Rule Store
1929 – Lost everything during the “crash”
Broke emotionally, physically
He was near death, not expected to live past morning.
Then in the room he heard a military hymn from the
chapel. In his dying state he asked God to help him,
and in a remarkable transformation, he felt his
burden lifted. He was dramatically metamorphosed,
soon walking out of the institution on his own steam.
Became prosperous again, giving away millions, and
for decades vigorously communicated his values and
faith in God.
Lessons from the ant - Dedication
A group of ants will never leave what they’re
carrying and just call it a day!
They are dedicated and make sure that they get the
job done!
Resiliency in failure and the ability to take criticism
are strengths we acquire along the university of life!
Lessons from the ant – Passion, Interest
Ants are passionate and have interest of what is going on in their colony.
Passion propel us into action.
Passion is contagious.
Jesus had a passion for souls ‘ He became obedient unto death, even death
on the Cross (Phil 2:8)
Passion is when you are emotionally involved, feel good as things go well,
get teary whenever something works!
Ruthlessly cut off what that makes you ineffective – make changes
Lessons from the ant - Servant Leaders
Servant Leadership – Sold out to serve others. Have influenced and transformed
churches, communities and nations. Integrate people’s abilities without diminishing
their uniqueness.
Servant Evangelism. This kind of evangelism works because “... people don’t necessarily
remember what they are told of God’s love, but they never forget what they have
experienced of God’s love.” Performing simple acts of kindness is an incredibly powerful
evangelical approach!
Matthew 20:28 (NIV)
28
just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a
ransom for many.”
