What is Orientation? Orientation is the process of introducing new employees to their work environment and to the company. This process typically includes an overview of the company’s history, culture, and mission, as well as a tour of the workplace. New employees are also typically given a overview of their job duties and expectations. Orientation helps new employees become familiar with their new surroundings and feel prepared to start working. 2

What are the benefits of Orientation? It provides an opportunity for employees to learn about the organization’s history, culture, values, and goals. Orientation also helps employees to understand their job responsibilities and the expectations of their supervisors. Additionally, orientation provides employees with information about the benefits and policies of the organization.  3

Personnel Economic Relief Allowance (PERA) 5 Formerly C.O.L.A (Cost of Living Allowance) This is another allowance given to all government employees to augment their take-home pay for the rising cost of living in the country. The bonus amounts to P2,000 pesos per month regardless of rank or performance. This totals to 24,000 pesos per year given to all teachers.

Cash Allowance/Teaching Supplies Allowance ( DBM and DepEd Joint Circular no. 2, s. 2021) Who are entitled? Permanent and Provisional public school teachers, including ALS and district ALS Coordinators, who are in service in DepEd for the current school year, and assigned with at least one teaching load 7

Cash Allowance ( DBM and DepEd Joint Circular no. 2, s. 2021) 8 Appropriated Cash Allowance to Teachers this year shall cover the following: purchases of teaching supplies and materials, tangible or intangible, for the implementation or conduct of various modes of learning delivery. internet and other communication expenses; annual medical and physical examination expenses

Uniform/ Clothing Allowance (BC 2018-1 dated March 8, 2018) Shall be granted to those who are already in government service and are to render services for at least six (6) months in a particular fiscal year, including leave of absence with pay. Newly –hired employee may qualify to the grant only after rendering six (6) months of service, and if expected to render services for at least six (6) months for the rest of the year. An annual clothing allowance of Php 6,000, part of the compensation package, is provided to teachers, usually arriving in April. 9

Mid-Year Bonus ( BC 2017-2 dated May 8, 2017) Personnel has rendered at least a total or an aggregate of four (4) months of service from July 1 of the immediately preceding year to May 15 of the current year; Personnel remains to be in service as of May 15 of the current year Personnel has at least obtained a satisfactory rating in the immediately preceding rating period. Teachers receive a mid-year bonus equivalent to one month’s basic salary in May, contributing to the total financial incentives. How Much: 1-month Salary When: Released in May 10

Personnel has rendered at least a total or an aggregate of four (4) months of service from January 1 to October 31 of the current year Personnel remains to be in the government service as of October 31 of the same year Those who have rendered a total or an aggregate of less than four (4) months of service from January 1 to October 31 of the current year and are still in government service as of October 1 of the same year shall be entitled solely to a pro-rated Cash Gift. How Much: 1-month Salary When: Released in November 11 Year-End Bonus (BC 2016-4 dated April 28, 2016)

12 Cash Gift A cash gift of Php5,000 is given to teachers in November, enhancing their end-of-year rewards.

Productivity Enhancement Incentive (PEI) ( BC 2017-4 dated Dec. 4, 2017) The employees are still in service as of November 30 of the current year The employees have rendered at least a total or an aggregate of four (4) months of at least satisfactory service as of November 30 of the current year, including leaves of absence with pay Those who have rendered less than the total or aggregate of four months of service but still in service as of November 30 of the current year shall be entitled to pro-rated PEI Php 5,000.00; tax free; not earlier than December 15 13

Performance Based Bonus (PBB) ( DepEd Order No. 038, s. 2018) An official or employee who has rendered a minimum of nine (9) months of service in the current rating period, and with at least “Satisfactory” performance rating may be eligible to the full grant of the PBB An official or employee who rendered less than (9) months but a minimum of three (3) months of service in the current rating period, and with at least “Satisfactory” performance rating may be eligible for the grant of PBB on a pro-rata basis corresponding the actual length of service rendered. Teachers with s atisfactory performance will receive a bonus based on their performance classification under Executive Order No. 80, Section 2012. The bonus, ranging from 50% to 65% of their basic salary, is typically disbursed in February or March, adding to the comprehensive rewards they receive. 14

Loyalty Pay ( Civil Service Commission Memorandum Circular No. 6, s. 2002) Granted to an official or employee who has completed at least ten (10) years of continuous and satisfactory service in the government. LCA rate: first 10 years of service - 10, 000.00 every 5 years thereafter - P5,000.00 15

Service Recognition Incentive (SRI) (BC No. 2020 – 6 Dated December 22, 2020) The civilian personnel are occupying regular, contractual or casual positions. The personnel are still in the service as of November 30 of the FY. The personnel have rendered at least a total or an aggregate of four (4) months of satisfactory service as of November 30 of FY, inclusive of services rendered under any of the alternative work arrangements prescribed by the Civil Service Commission. The employees who have rendered less than a total or an aggregate of four (4) months of service as of November 30 shall be entitled to a pro-rated share of the SRI 16 NOTE: FY 2020 GUIDELINES

Special Hardship Allowance (Joint Circular No. 1, s. 2021 (DBM- DepEd ) dated May 18, 2021) The following DepEd personnel are qualified to receive the Special Hardship Allowance: All teachers in elementary and secondary schools located In hardship posts as determined through the Hardship Index; Multi-grade teachers in pure multi-grade schools; Mobile teachers, and Non-Formal Education or Alternative Learning System (ALS) coordinators concurrently handling ALS classes; School heads assigned in hardship posts or pure multi-grade schools Teachers assigned to the most challenging assignments receive a hardship allowance of 15% to 25% of their monthly salary, which is included in their compensation package, 17

World Teachers’ Day Incentive Benefit (DepEd ORDER No. 029 s. 2020) Granted to all public school teachers, with permanent and provisional appointment, in all public elementary, junior and senior high schools, and community learning centers, who are in service in DepEd on or before October 05 of the current school year (SY). It shall be released to all eligible teachers in FY 2020 and the years thereafter, subject to the availability of funding appropriations as may be authorized by the annual GAA. 20

Leave Privileges DepEd teachers have access to Proportional Vacation Pay (PVP), Maternity Leave, Paternity Leave and Study Leave, essential elements of their overall rewards. 21

Step Increment DepEd teachers with three years of continuous satisfactory service in their position receive a step increment, adding to their financial incentives. 22

Mobile Teachers and District Alternative Learning Coordinators (DALC) Mobile teachers receive a monthly travel allowance of Php 2,000, contributing to their overall financial incentives. Mobile teachers are provided with an instructional allowance of Php 5,000 , a vital part of their annual financial benefits. 23
