Osgood-Schra mm model of communication

Osgood-Schramm model of communication This model was presented by Osgood and Schramm in 1954. Firstly, this model was presented by Wilbur Schramm and adapted from the theories of another scientist, Osgood. So, it is also called Osgood and Schramm model of communication

Components of Osgood and Schramm model of communication

Encoder (Sender): who sends the message Decoder (Receiver): who receive the message Interpreter: person trying to understand or interpret Message: what is conveyed from one to another Components of Model

Features of model Main feature of this model is that it is a circular model. This model presents a complete treatment of fundamental of communication. This model states about general explanation of nature of a communication.

Advantages of Model: It is a dynamic model which shows how a situation change. It shows that why redundancy is an essential part. There is no separate sender and receiver. Both are of same kind persons. Assume that communication is in circular manner.

Disadvantages of Model: This model does not talk about semantic noise. It only assumes about encoding and decoding. There is no feedback in this model.
