3. OSTRICH Production Introduction: The Ostrich is a flightless bird native to Africa, the only living member(s) of the genus Struthio . The ostrich belongs to the Ratite family of birds. The male ostrich is called a rooster while a female ostrich is called a hen. The ostrich is the largest and heaviest living bird in the world.

5. OSTRICH PROD……… Adult males stand 2.4-2.8 m tall and can weigh well over 120-180 kg; the hen is slightly smaller. Ostriches are flightless birds, with their great body size and reduced wing size (small wings) rendering them incapable of flying. Name other flightless birds????

7. OSTRICH…………………. They have a long neck, long bare legs and two toes. Their strong legs allow them to run up to 70 km per hour when necessary, with strides of up to 8 m. Neck and thigh muscles are well developed and un feathered.

Male ostrich of East Africa have pink or red skin and are often referred to a "red necks," while the more southern ostrich has blue skin and is referred to as "blue necks."

22. OSTRICH………………… This bird is a flightless bird for many reasons. Firstly, it has small and loose feathers and does not have a keeled sternum (breastbone) which is common to most birds. An ostrich can go on to live for almost 50 years.
