Values and ethics

2. WHAT ARE SOCIAL VALUES ? Social values are values (standards) concerned with social aspects of human life which are necessary for better interaction with the society. For example TRUTH HONESTY JUSTICE KINDNESS GENEROSITY TOLERANCE EMPATHY PATRIOTISM EQUALITY .....etc

3. 1 .TRUTH . .”the greatest advantage of speaking the truth is that you don’t have to remember what you said ” 2 . HONESTY. . means being truthful to others, being truthful to yourself, doing what’s right regardless of who’s around, being someone other can trust.

4. 3 .JUSTICE -The ideal of fairness , impartiality ,etc , especially with regard to the punishment of wrongdoing . 4 . KINDNESS - is the behaviour marked by ethical characteristics , a pleasant deposition and concern for others .

5. 5 .GENEROSITY - the habit of giving freely without expecting anything in return . 6. TOLERANCE - Tolerance accepts some inappropriate behaviour for the sake of the common good. 7 . EMPATHY - to care about others feelings . To know about others intuitions.

6. 8 . PATRIOTISM - is the great and selfless passion of love for one’s country. 9 .EQUALITY - is the state of affairs in which all people within a specific society have the same status in certain respects and have same rights and rules.

7. From where we attain values ? Our parents and social environment around us are the determining factors through which values are formed . Values are gradually formed from our parent’s teachings and childhood experiences . When we are born , our mind is blank , innocent , and it can’t differentiate between good and bad . Almost everyone’s first experience is love and care he or she receives from his/her mother . Human values are inculcated at an early age and acquired through the social environment .

8. IMPORTANCE OF SOCIAL VALUES 1. ECONOMIC PROGRESS- Social values increases the economic progress of a society . For example..... If truth and honesty are practised by everybody , it will promote fair dealings in all walks of life such as business , education , political , social services etc. 2. SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT - Social values also help in social development. For example ..... Several industrialists and charitable institutions have shown generosity and started school , colleges , hospitals , cultural centres for the benefit of common people . 3. SOCIAL RELATIONS- Social values like co-operation , tolerance , respect, for seniors etc. Tend to improve social ties or relations. As the relations become strong , the society will become strong . As the society become strong ,nation will also become strong .

9. 4. REGIONAL CO-OPERATION- Social values like co-operation , patriotism and tolerance can help to mitigate the differences between the regions , states and countries . These three values if practised it will promote social and economic development of the nations. 5- LOVE , PEACE AND HAPPINESS – Values like respect for others , co-operation , tolerance , develop a bond of togetherness. As a result , conflicts and clashes get solved through mutual understanding. 6- STANDARD OF LIVING – Values of perfection and excellence enables people to develop new methods , process and techniques . As a result , new and better products and services become available in the market . This ultimately led to raising the standard of living .

10. PRESENT CONDITIONS OF THE SOCIETY 1 Recent increase in the number of assault cases and crime . 2 .increasing number of old people home . 3. Most of the people do not have respect for elders and females . 4 . speaking lies has become people’s habits. 5. corruption and jealousy everywhere depleting the much desired moral values . 6 .people are becoming less tolerant which leads to violence and family breakdown . 7 . drugs are destroying our youth. 8. People are becoming selfish and self oriented . 9 .. People want fame and wealth at any cost . 10. increasing social evils as shown next ..............

12. What is responsible for present condition of our society ? 1. now a days, education is becoming job oriented and making man for work but not a good social man . 2. parents have no time for their wards ( children) so they are not aware that in which company our child is . Good or bad ? 3. social media is also responsible for the deteriorating conditions of our society.

13. How can we MAKE CONDITIONS BETTER ? 1 .Moral values must be taught and should be an indispensable part of our education system . 2 . Teacher should train every child for his /her future responsibilities . 3 .Apart from education , schools should indulge in activities to generate the feeling of brotherhood and love . 4 . Schools must participate in social causes through school kids . Like cleanliness activities , awareness campaigns etc . 5 .Apart from teachers and schools , parents must play an active role in teaching moral values to their children. Like respect , peace , honesty etc . 6 . parents should give proper time to their children . 7 . we have to become unite and sincere against the social evils like dowry system , female foeticide , corruption etc . 8 . self introspection should be done by the individuals .
