members, when two of the seniors started arguing angrily and loudly with each other.
At that day, fortuitously the executive director was not at the center which made the

Before lunch time, all seniors at the Dunmore Senior Center were having free time

Anna Keating supported the Fertility Awareness Method, a natural method that

Kangaroo care and active involvement in the infant s care gave parents a sense of
control that strengthened their motivation to be with their infant. This helped when
the environment was calm and private. Access to single care rooms/family rooms in
the NICU enhances parents opportunities for being involved with their child. This
study was conducted in a level 3 NICU at a Swedish, regional/university level 3
hospital. The NICU guidelines and procedures were designed to prevent unnecessary
parent infant separation and support attachment/bonding between infants and their
parents. The NICU has nine family rooms where parents can room with their infant
during their hospital stay and provide for their infant s care, with support from the
staff. A convenience sample of mothers and fathers of extremely preterm infants
(born at a gestational stage (GA) of 27 weeks or less) who received care in the NICU
were recruited.
Seven couples were invited to participate in the study. One father declined
participation; therefore, seven mothers and six fathers participated. One couple had
twins. The infants were born at twenty three weeks and five days to twenty seven
weeks and 6 days gestational age, with birth weights ranging between 492 and 1044
grams. All of whom required ventilator support, for different periods of times. The

themselves and others. For instance Frederick Douglass was a slave, yet he still
became a hero. Despite the many trials he escaped and used his gifts of speech and

experience of being a slave because many people back then did not truly

civil war broke out he convinced the U.S Army to allow African Americans to join

In the memoir Trying to save Piggy Sneed, John Irving recounts how his
grandmother s kindness towards a retarded garbage collector, Sneed, inspired him to
become a writer. One of the key aspects of the memoir is how Irving creates a portrait
of Sneed as more and more pig like. The effect of this portrait is to make readers
believe, by the end of the memoir, that Sneed is a pig. Irving starts the memoir with
the statement that all memoirs are partially made up, and as such, Trying to save
Piggy Sneed, too, has false components. He uses his imagination throughout the
memoir to supplement his memory and to alter facts about Sneed, so as to create a
false and cruel picture of him. My aim is to analyze how Irving uses his
imagination to characterize Sneed and answer why does he, even as an adult,
insist on being abusive to this innocent man? In paragraph 8, Irving emphasizes
that Sneed lived with his pigs, imagining that his pigs would crowd around him for
warmth. He associates Sneed s smell and look with his pig like qualities. But,
although Sneed smelled and looked awful, this alone is not conclusive. Sneed was
poor and retarded and couldn t talk, so the only thing he could do for a living was
collect garbage and keep some pigs, work in which it is not easy to maintain hygiene.
Because his barn was small, Sneed had to remain close to his pigs, which was the
reason he looked and smelled awful, rather than a willingness to live like a pig, as
Irving describes.

Literary Analysis of The Birth Mark by Nathaniel Hawthorne
Obsession can drive even the sanest person insane. In the story, The Birth Mark by
Nathaniel Hawthorne, Aylmer, a scientist, is driven to extreme measures when he
becomes obsessed with the small hand shape birthmark on his wife Georgiana s face.
In The Birth mark , Hawthorne uses symbolism and characters to show that obsession
and fixation can make a person focus all their attention on one bad thing and forget
all the good.
Hawthorne uses symbolism to show that the birthmark represented Georgiana s
humanity and mortality. Upon Georgiana s face there is a small, red birthmark the
shape of a human hand. Before Aylmer married Georgiana, he never noticed the
birthmark, or rather was blinded by her beauty that he chose to [wish] it away

In my initial submission for Lesson 1, I recall being amused by the statement in the
introduction of Navigating English Grammar that humans have always been
fascinated by language. Then, and now, this still seems like an understatement to me.
Language is an incredible facet to me and humans of all ages. To consider that an
infant can communicate with few words and more gestures and then continue to
develop the use of language as the number of words increase proves to be such an
interesting phenomenon which has an influence on a human s existence. This
influence permeates throughout language in formal or informal use. In that same
lesson, I recall the childhood influences upon my language development. Being a
young Southern woman, a distinct dialect permeated my childhood environments;
from home, school, and small community, the slow, slang filled conversations
enlightened me in the ways of people around me. This information partnered with the
Grammar Quest proved that my own method of verbusage perplexed me. The
instruction received in my local elementary and middle school demonstrated an
error in my grandfather s way of speaking; therefore, my way of speaking did not
follow prescriptive rules, and additional instruction was deemed necessary. With
this review and research of prior writings, the use of verbs and verb forms used in a
prescriptive nature proves to be an area of concern for my own proper use of
Standard English.

The 9th track on the Miseducation of Lauryn Hill , I Used to Love Him starts with a
monotonous slow I used to love him but now I don t her regret and slowly healing
pain apparent. The guitar riff at the beginning sounds like a heartbeat close to dying
although this beat continues throughout the song, it picks up pace (in a similar fashion
to Hill s now fixed heart). The song acts as a break up venting session between Mary

Introduction For many years, the use of laboratory tests has been very prominent
when researching the relationship between physiological variables and endurance
training. However the results have fluctuated from study to study. This could be
due to the use of different specific physiological variables but also due to the
activity levels of the participants used. Oxygen intake is a highly studied
compartment of sports science and particularly physiology due to its direct
correlation with cycling speed. VO2max is used to explain a person s maximal
aerobic power; this makes it a valid measure when studying endurance
performance. In order to test the relationship between aerobic fitness and 4km
cycling performance, it is important to have first identified the physiological
variables to be tested. Joyner and Coyle (2008) address VO2max, lactate threshold
and cycling economy as the 3 main factors, so these were tested in accordance with
this. Previous research has differed on which physiological variable is the greatest
influence on endurance performance. With this in mind, the present study aims to
take growth from this and act as an improvement on their limitations. Cycling
economy is defined as the volume of oxygen consumed by a person at a given
steady state workload (Cosgrove et al, 1999). The results of this have generally been
showing that it is insignificant in predicting endurance performance, however cycling

I have selected case number 1. An 85 year old man came to the emergency room
with palpitations for a few days. He states that he sometimes feels light headed and
dizzy. The patient s heart rate is elevated and irregular. As he goes from a sitting

orthostatic bloodpressure you notice that they are positive.
Orthostatic hypotension or postural hypotension happens when blood pressure drops
as you stand from a lying position. This drop in blood pressure causes the patient to
