How parents involve
themselves in Their child’s
school??
●Organize an after school club.
●Became a class parent helper
●Get involved in decision and
policy making
●Offer consultancy services
●Join the parent teacher
association

How we can put this into action……
◈Recognize that all parents -regardless of their income, education or
their cultural background —are involved in their children’s learning
and want their children to do well
◈Develop the capacity of school staff to work with the families.
◈Design program that will support families to guide their children’s
learning from preschool through high school
◈Include families in all strategies to reduce the achievement gap among
the middle income and low incomes students.

Conclusion
In conclusion, the development of positive relationships between you, the teacher
and parents, students and other teachers, does not take one effort, but many.
Positive relationships provide opportunities for learning in all areas of life.
Encourage, equip, and teach as you develop that all important relationship with
child or child you teach.
Remember that every communication exchange, regardless of format, should reflect
a thoughtful, planned approach and should be viewed as an opportunity for teachers
to promote parent partnerships and, ultimately, to support student learning.

Partnering with Parents to
Establish Community
“Schooling is first and foremost about relationships
between and among students, teachers, and [parents],
and… community building …[which improves] teaching
and learning.”
