SIGN IN THE INTERNET

Introduction History Components Pictures Presentor JOHN RAINIER RICAMARA CLARISSA L. PISYAO JEDRICK PERJES GAB ORNEDO MARK JOSEPH E. REY CHRISTOPHER PALATINO “THE INTERNET” 07:30 AM 06/28/2023

Introduction Summary INTRODUCTION x 10:30 AM 08/20/2023 History WHAT IS INTERNET ? The Internet Internet or "net" (network of network) is the largest computer network in the world that connects billions of computer user. The word internet comes from combination between "interconnection" and "network". Network is a collection of computers and devices connected via communication channels and transmission media allow to share resources (hardware, software, data, information). Generally, nobody owns the internet. Components

The Internet is a widely distributed network of computer servers, which allow users to communicate and exchange data. The Internet is the infrastructure for information and communications technologies such as the World Wide Web and email. Today, the internet is a public, cooperative and self-sustaining facility accessible to hundreds of millions of people worldwide. It's used by many as the primary source of information consumption and has fueled the creation and growth of its own social ecosystem through social media and content sharing.

OBJECTIVE Introduction History Summary . OBJECTIVE x 02:30 PM 4/3/2023 Brief History of Internet ARPA Advanced Research Project Agency January 2, 1969 started an experimental computer network. Concept - No server, but equal importance/participation to every computer in the network. Even if, one or two node destroyed that will now affect the network. In 1982 the word internet started. 1986 First" free net" created in Case Western Reserve University 1991: US government allowed business agencies to connect to internet. Now all people can connect to the internet and improve their life and work quality. The internet support various aspects in our life. Vinton Gray Cerf For MemRS is an American Internet pioneer and is recognized as one of "the fathers of the Inte Components

Computer scientists Vinton Cerf and Robert Kahn can be found on every shortlist of people credited as inventors of the internet. This is because they came up with the Transmission Control Protocol and Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), aka the standard for how information is shared between different networks. In other words, their work is what would allow a network like ARPANET to communicate with another computer network. Kahn and Cerf went public with their ideas in 1974, leading to a system that is still in use today. RFC 675, the Specification of Internet Transmission Control Program, was published in December 1974. This document  also contains the first attested use of the term “internet” – short for “internetwork.” ROBERT E. KAHN VINTON CERF

Dr. William T. Torres is recognized for his significant pioneering contributions in computer and information technology and is known as the “Father of the Internet in the Philippines”. He helped conceptualize and led the formulation, promotion, negotiation of three major national initiatives, namely, the Government Communications Network project, the Software Development Institute project and the PhilNET project, interconnecting nationwide research and educational networks with the global Internet. Dr. William T. Torres

He started negotiations with the US National Science Foundation to bring the Internet into the country in the early 1990’s. Dr. Torres also directed the planning and implementation of government-wide IT programs and projects of the National Computer Center as the Resource and Learning Center of Information Technology for the government. Dr. Torres is the first Filipino to obtain a Ph.D. in Computer Science where he obtained from University of Wisconsin under full scholarship. Dr. Torres is a Board Member of the Philippine Information Communication Technology Organization (PICTO).

Introduction Pictures TOPICS x 07:30 AM 06/28/2023 SERVER x Server Components History I.S.P. A server is a computer or system that provides resources, data, services, or programs to other computers, known as clients, over a network. In theory, whenever computers share resources with client machines, they are considered servers. There are many types of servers, including web servers, mail servers, and virtual servers. TYPES OF SERVER: Application Server An application server in the internet is a software platform that hosts and manages applications, acting as a middle ground between users (clients) and backend systems like databases, essentially delivering applications to users over a network by processing requests and managing data flow between them. 2. Web Server A web server is a computer system that stores and displays websites. It receives requests from clients, like web browsers, and sends back the requested web pages.

TYPES OF SERVER: 3. Proxy Server Proxy server is a system or router that provides a gateway between users and the internet. Therefore, it helps prevent cyber attackers from entering a private network. It is a server, referred to as an “intermediary” because it goes between end-users and the web pages they visit online. 4 . Mail Server A n application that receives incoming e-mail from local users and remote senders and forward outgoing e-mail for delivery. 5. File Server a computer responsible for central storage and management of data files so that another computer on the same network can access them.

TYPES OF SERVER: 6. Policy Server a security component of a policy-based network that provides authorization services and facilities tracking and control of files. Essentially determining who can access what resources on a network by defining rules and conditions for user access based on factors like location, device type, and user identity; it acts as the central control point for managing network security and access controls

Introduction Objective TOPICS x 07:30 AM 06/28/2023 DOMAIN NAME SYSTEM x A Domain Name System (DNS) is  a network system that translates human-readable domain names (like "google.com") into machine-readable IP addresses , allowing users to access websites by typing easy-to-remember names instead of complex numerical addresses Components I.S.P. Introduction Summary 07:30 AM 06/28/2023 SUMMARY x Components History The Internet is a global network of billions of computers and other electronic devices. With the Internet, it's possible to access almost any information, communicate with anyone else in the world, and do much more. You can do all of this by connecting a computer to the Internet, which is also called going online. When someone says a computer is online, it's just another way of saying it's connected to the Internet.
