Welcome To Our Presentation Different parts of sewing machine Presented By : Toymur Islam tonmoy ID :191-187-101 Presented to : Md.Golam Robbani Lecturer, BUFT

What is Sewing Machine 2 A sewing machine is a machine which is mechanically driven needle used to stitch materials together with thread. It is designed to join pieces of fabric or leather by means of either a lockstitch or a chain stitch.

Different parts of sewing machine 1.Spool pin, 2.Bobbin binder spindle, 3.Bobbin winder stopper, 4.Stitch width dial, 5.Pattern selector dial, 6.Hand wheel, 7.Stitch length dial, 8.Reverse stitch lever, 9.Power switch, 10.Bobbin winder thread guide, 11.Thread tension dial, 12.Thread take-up lever, 13.Needle clamp screw, 14.Presser foot, 15.Bobbin case, 16.Bobbin case release button, 17.Feed dog, 18.Needle, 19.Needle plate.

Functions of Sewing Machine Parts: 4 1. Spool Pin : Spool pin in a sewing machine is placed vertically or horizontally which actually used for holding the spool of threads and this is a fixed part of a sewing machine.

2.Bobbin binder spindle During winding, bobbin is placed here.

3.Bobbin Winder Stopper When bobbin reaches its optimum capacity then bobbin winder stopper stops the bobbin winding.

4.Stitch width dial: The main object of stitch width dial is to control the zigzag stitch.

5. Pattern selector dial: Pattern selector dial is to set the symbol of the desired stitch pattern.

6.Balance Wheel Balance wheel is used to raise and lower the need, which is situated in the right side of the machine. Basically , it is used to run the machine manually.

7.Stitch length dial Stitch length dial is used to control the length of the stitch .

8.Reverse stitch lever, It is situated on the front side of the machine. This is used for making reverse stitching while sewing at the end of every seam to secure it.

9. Power switch: Power switch means the off-on office of the sewing machine. Normally power switch is located at the right side of the machine.

If your Bobbin is not winding evenly, it very well could be the position of the Tension Assembly Unit.  10.bobbin winder thread guide

11. Thread tension dial: The thread guides are the metal devices that help regulate tension. It keep the thread from getting tangled and distribute the tension evenly from the spool to your fabric.

12. Thread take-up lever: During sewing the top thread passes through the thread take-up lever. Thread take-up lever moves up and down with the needle .

13. Needle clamp screw: Needle clamp screw holds the needle in its actual place.

14. Presser foot: Presser Foot holds the fabric in place while sewing. Presser foot attach to the machine shank, which is either “High”, “Low”, or “Slant”. Attach the appropriate presser foot for the selected stitching.

15.  Bobbin Case: The bobbin case is where the bobbin lives. It is a device which hold the bobbin and provides tension to the lower thread. As the needle thread is pulled around bobbin case, it wraps around the bobbin thread, and pulls it up through the needle plate.

16. Bobbin cover release button : This type of button is used to release the cover plate for entrance to the bobbin.

17. Feed dog: During sewing, feed dog pulls the fabric in forward.

18. Needle: Needle is used to form a stitch in the garments.

19. Needle plate: Needle plate is a metal plate which is situated under the needle and presser foot. It helps to move the fabric forward during sewing .
