Active or Passive? “The baker bakes the bread .” (Active Sentence) The subject performs the action of the verb. The object receives the action. Subject Verb Object

Active or Passive? The bread is baked by the baker . (Passive Sentence) Object of the active sentence becomes the subject of the passive sentence. Subject of the active sentence becomes the object of the by -phrase. be + Past Participle Subject Object

Make Passive Sentences.. The chairs are made by the carpenter.

Be + Past Participle The cherry-pie is baked by the chef.

Change into Passive.. Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone. The telephone was invented by Bell.

Be + Past Participle Egyptians built the Great Pyramid. The Great Pyramid was built by Egyptians.

Present Continuous: Be + being + Past Participle The hairdresser is cutting her hair. Her hair is being cut by the hairdresser.

Be + being + Past Participle They are planting flowers. Flowers are being planted by them.

Be + being + Past Participle The Japanese girl is inflating the red balloon. The red balloon is being inflated by the Japanese girl.

Will Future: Will + Be + Past Participle My father will mow the grass. The grass will be mowed by my father.

Will + Be + Past Participle Hamilton will pass Schumacher. Schumacher will be passed by Hamilton.

Going to Be + Past Participle She is going to eat the hamburger. The hamburger is going to be eaten.

Going to Be + Past Participle The postman is going to deliver the letters. The letters are going to be delivered by the postman.

Present Perfect: Have / Has + Been + Past Participle He has painted the walls. The walls have been painted .

Have / Has + Been + Past Participle Workers have carried all the stones. All the stones have been carried by the workers.
