DEFINITION Passive Voice is a sentence structure where the focus is on the action and the object receiving the action and the subject performing the action. Passive voice occurs when you make the object of an action into the subject of a sentence. .

Steps to Form Passive Voice Sentences Identify the object in the active voice sentence that will become the subject in the passive voice. Determine the correct form of "to be" (am/is/are) according to the new subject. Change the main verb to its past participle form (Verb 3). Add the word "by" followed by the subject from the active voice sentence (if needed). Review the sentence structure to ensure it follows passive voice rules.
