and religious festival that highlights unity among the diverse ethnic groups in
the city. Pattaraday Festival is a 5-day celebration of 14 ethnic groups.
The word "Pattaradday" comes from the Ilocano term meaning “unity”
or “friendship”. The festival aims to foster harmony among the various
cultural groups in Santiago City.

The festival honors Santiago City's Charter Anniversary and

Gaddang.

The Pattaradday Festival was founded by then-Mayor
Amelita Navarro in 2000. “Pattaradday unifies the city’s
14 ethno-linguistic groups and focuses on the unity despite
the artistic and cultural diversity of the people,” says City
Mayor Amelita Navarro who initiated and supported the
undertaking as her legacy to her constituents.
