Activity 4- Picture Analysis The teacher will show a set of pictures to the pupils. Directions: Analyze the set of pictures. Encircle the pictures which show proper health hygiene and active living. Guide Questions: 1. Identify the activities shown in each item. 2. Which among the pictures should you also do and why?
The teacher will present the lesson through a PowerPoint presentation. Personal Health involves making intentional choices to take care of your well-being. It's not only about your physical health but also on your emotional, intellectual, social, economic, and spiritual well-being. Personal Hygiene involves the habits and actions people do to stay clean and healthy. These practices are important to stop illnesses from spreading, to stay healthy, and to feel confident. Personal hygiene covers things like taking care of your teeth, skin, hair, nails, and overall cleanliness.
Activity 5: Role-Play on Exploring Disregard for Personal Health Materials Needed: Scenario cards (prepared in advance) describing different situations where personal health is disregarded. Props (optional) to make the scenarios more realistic and engaging. Space for students to act out the role-play scenarios. Introduction (2 minutes): Start by discussing with the students the importance of personal health and how making healthy choices can impact their well-being. Explain that they will be doing role-play activities to understand what might happen when personal health is not taken seriously.
2. Preparing Scenarios (5 minutes): Prepare scenario cards that describe various situations where personal health is ignored. These scenarios could include examples like: - Staying up late to play video games and not getting enough sleep. - Eating only junk food for an entire day. - Refusing to wash hands after using the restroom or before eating. Not wearing warm clothing in cold weather. Skipping a day the brushing of teeth. Spending the whole day indoors without any physical activity.
3. Role-Play Activity (20 minutes): Divide the students into small groups. Each group should receive a scenario card. In their groups, students should read and discuss the scenario. They should think about what might happen to the person in the scenario due to their actions. Give them a few minutes to prepare for the short role-play based on the scenario. They can use props if available to make it more engaging. Allow each group to perform in front of the class. After each performance, engage the class in a brief discussion about the consequences of the actions portrayed in the role-play.
4. Discussion (10 minutes): After all groups have performed their role-plays, lead the class discussion using the following questions: - What did you learn from each scenario? - How did the actions in the scenarios affect the characters' health? Why is it important to make healthy choices? What are some better choices the characters could have made in each scenario?
After-activity Reflection (5 minutes): Have a closing discussion about the importance of personal health and the role each student plays in taking care of his/her well-being.
