Pediatric Emergency A pediatric emergency is defined as a serious condition that threatens the life of an infant,child,teen,or young,adult,thus,requires immediate medical attention .

Causes of condition it can be caused by a wide variety of factors . That most common are acute medical problems such as persistent high fever, breathing difficulties, severe infections, seizures, dehydration and severe allergic reactions. > Major injuries, such as fractures,burns,headinjuries,and severe bodily trauma caused by falls and vehicular accidents also qualify as paediatric emergencias .

EMERGENCY IN BABY > EXCESSIVE CRYING > FITTING > NOT FEEDING > DIARRHOEA > CYANOSIS > VOMITING > APNOEA > FEVER > JAUNDICE > BLEEDING

Fever Fevers are usually a symptom of an underlying medical condition . In most cases, fevers are not a cause of concern. However , if a childs fever reaches 104f, it can cause a seizure, which is why it requires immediate medical attention .

Breathing difficulties If a child finds it difficult it to breathe or is not breathing at all , it is considered as a paediatric emergency .first responders , whether medically trained or not , should check for any obstruction and attempt first aid to help the child breathe .

Seizures or convulsions Seizures or convulsions can be caused by a high grade fever or by an underlying medical condition ,such as epilepsy .

Jaundice Jaundice is a yellow tint to a newborns skin and the white part of the eyes. It is a sign there’s too much bilirubin in the baby’s blood. The word having too much bilirubin in the blood is hyperbilirubinemia . In rare cases, if the bilirubin level stays high and is not treated , it can caus brain damage called kernicterus .this can lead to serios lifelong problems .

shock Shock is a syndrome that results from inadequate oxygen delivery to meet metabolic demands .

Trauma Leading cause of death in children Four times greater than cancer Mvi = 44% of deaths Burns =15% Drowning=14.6% Aspiration= 3.5% Firearms= 4%
