Peer Feedback

Over the weekend I uploaded the completely finished product in the
version that I was happy with the idea to show others, gather
feedback and come back to college after the weekend and make the
suggested improvements on a second version of the document. But
not only did I gather peer feedback but I found that whilst watching
with others, I almost gained this sort of critic mindset and found
some faults that I at first didn’t notice. One suggestion that across
the bored that everyone believed that I should change was the
ending of the video.

My original plan for the last two shots of
the video, which are shots of the bikes, was
to have the long shot play longer in the
background and have the last two shots
overlaying the long shot. But after
gathering peer feedback, people felt as if it
seemed like an after though but also that I
need a shot in the video with the name of
the bike and that these last two shots
would work well for that.

After gathering the collected peer
feedback. I reverted the last two clips back
to just filling the whole frame and being
one and after the other, that was the easy
part. It became a bit of a challenge when it
came to trying find an aesthetically pleasing
way to place the text in the two shots. The
one way that I really wanted to do it was to
have the text large and behind the bike but
the only way I could think of doing that was
by using the roto brush tool in after effects
and no matter how many times and
different ways I tried to use the tool, the
software would just crash and close down
the app.

Another suggestion that was given to me by one person but then
agreed with by another, was that one shot that was used to try and
show the gears being used was too short which actually worked well
with one of the problems I noticed. I noticed whilst. Watching with
others that the shot used after the gears shot actually had a slight
wobble at the end as I the camera operator went to stop filming.
The idea of the shot was to create a close
up of the gears being used when the rider
finished a trail and started to climb up
again. A problem a found during filming
was that the shot was a lot harder to get
tan I originally imagined it was going to be,
so when it came to editing, I found that
actually although I had the length of shot I
needed, only a small amount of the shot
was actually usable in my eyes.

But when it came to trying to find away
that that clip could be longer, I found that
although there wasn’t enough usable
footage in the shot of the gears being used,
I did realise that the shot had a nice ending
to it, where the actor rides away from
camera, not only did this extra found bit
that I could use help increase the length of
the clip and help the shot be more
understandable for what it is, it helped me
chop down the next shot with the bad
ending.
