3. SCHOOL UNIFORM KITS
To promote inclusive education, the Government
provides comprehensive uniform kits to all
students enrolled in government schools for free
of cost every year.

The Components of such Uniform Kits include -

•Shirt
•Salwar/Pant
•Dupatta
•Shoes
•Socks
•Pull Over
•Woolen Cap

4. PROJECT OUTLINE
⚫ As a pilot under PEHEL, the contract for
provisioning of uniform kits to
Government Senior Secondary School
Sangrur (Girls) was provided to SHG
members of four villages in Sangrur
district.
⚫Total kits to be executed were 484.
⚫The foremost challenge was to provide the
entire uniform kit within the government
stipulated price of Rs 600 per kit.

7. PEHEL PILOT PROJECT

RESULTS
●Every SHG member earned Rs. 50 per stitched
suit (uniform).
●Women gained confidence and exposure to the
market. Some now have ventured into
establishing stitching units of their own.
●It led to financial empowerment of women.
●Rural economy got a fillip.

8. Future potential

●In district Sangrur, the target is to provide
uniforms to 200 schools by SHGs in the next
academic session, which equates to 1 lakh
uniforms approx.
●As more schools are covered under the PEHEL
project, the profit margin would increase to 30%
due to economies of scale.

9. Future potential

●Punjab government is going to implement Free
School Uniform Scheme 2022 very soon.
Under this scheme, the state government will
provide uniforms absolutely free of cost to
around 15.49 lakh government school students.
●This offers scope to enroll SHGs across the state
to provide uniforms to students
