Perimeter, Area and Volume Selçuk Çapraz - 103529

The perimeter of a figure is the distance around the outside of the figure. This is true whether the figure is a familiar figure like a rectangle or triangle, or if it is a complex figure like the floorplan of a house . Perimeter of shapes To find the perimeter of this figure, you need to add the lengths of all 6 sides. Perimeter = 5 + 3 + 3 + 1 + 2 + 2 = 16 units

Area is a measure of how much space there is inside a shape. Calculating the area of a shape or surface can be useful in everyday life – for example you may need to know how much paint to buy to cover a wall or how much grass seed you need to sow a lawn . The simplest (and most commonly used) area calculations are for squares and rectangles . To find the area of a rectangle multiply its height by its width . Area of shapes

Volume is the amount of space inside a 3-dimensional figure. It is measured in cubic units. A cubic centimeter is a cube that is 1cm wide, 1cm long, and 1cm high. Another way to think of volume is to find the number of unit cubes necessary for building the figure. Volume of shapes Volume = (Area of the base) * (height)  Volume = ( 4cm * 3cm) * 5cm   Volume = 60cm 3

Shape Formula Variables Square P=4s s  is the length of the side of the square. Rectangle P=2L+2W L  and  W  are the lengths of the rectangle's sides (length and width). Triangle a+b+c a, b  and  c are the side lengths. Right Triangle, with legs  a and  b P= + + a  and  b  are the lengths of the two legs of the triangle Circle P=C=2 π r= π d r  is the radius and  d  is the diameter.
