prescription drugs, monitoring drug interactions, administering vaccines, and counseling
patients regarding the effects and proper usage of drugs and dietary
supplements

❑World Pharmacist Day was created by the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) Council at the
World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Istanbul, Turkey in 2009.
September 25this chosen as World Pharmacist Day because on this date FIP came into existence in 1912.
❑The reason for celebrating “Pharmacists Day”in order to make the public and health care professionals
aware that pharmacists are important members of the health care team, and there is a need to make the
best use of their services in order to improve patient's quality of life.
❑The aim of this year Pharmacist theme is Showcase the Pharmacy’s positive impact on health around the
world and to further strength the solidarity among the profession.
❑Health Equity –Among the countries, different Races, ages, Socio economical condition
•The Pharmacist should show the Unitedness among our community by overcoming the conflict,

❑Community pharmacist
A community pharmacy, often referred to as retail pharmacy or retail drug
outlets, is places where medicines are stored and dispensed,
supplied or sold.
Advising the public on medicines, side-effects of medicines
and the treatment of minor ailments.
Requirements: The Person shall be post graduate with knowledge on
Pharmacology/pharmaceutics.
❑Clinical pharmacist –
•Pharmacist involved in the clinical trials of new drug molecules and
•existing molecules for the clinical efficacy and safety in patients/healthy
human volunteers.
•They involve in working with Physician/hospital/industry for co ordination
of preparing the protocol, planning the study.
They are involved the interpretation of BA/BE data.
Requirements: The Person shall be post graduate with knowledge on Pharmacology/pharmaceutics
with Statistic is preferred.

8. Role of Pharmacist
❑Hospital pharmacist
•The hospital pharmacists work directly with physicians, other health professionals, and patients to
ensure that the medications prescribed for patients contribute to the best possible health outcomes.
•Clinical pharmacists practice in health care settings where they have frequent and regular
interactions with physicians and other health professionals, contributing to better coordination of
care.

agencies requirements.
