About This Presentation

This course aims to provide the students with practical and theoretical knowledge about basic culinary, basic food preparation and food presentation. It also provides the opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge into practices commonly found in an operation environment.

PHILIPPINES Philippines is an island country of southeast Asia in the western pacific ocean. It is an archipelago comprising of somewhere with the range of 7,100 islands and islets. Presentation title 2

Manila is the capital of the Philippines. On the other hand, Quezon City is the most populous city in the whole country. Both are part of the National Capital Region (NCR), located in the Luzon Island. Presentation title 3

The Philippine takes its name from the king of Spain, King Philip II. The Nation is wracked by political strife in the last quarter of the twentieth century. In the wake of suffering under the dictatorship of President Ferdinand Marcos, the extensively famous People Power in 1986 that drove a bloodless uprising against the regime that result to the oust and exile of the Marcos. The Philippines is rich in resources and has the potential to built a strong industrial economy but the country remain largely agricultural. The Philippine also emerge as a regional leader in education during the late 20 th century with the well establish public school and university system and by the early 21 st century the country has a highest literacy rates in Asia. Philippine Culture The culture of the Philippines is influence by both the east and west. The Philippines is commonly referred to as the melting pot of the western and eastern culture. The traditional culture of the Philippines is heavy influenced by the traditions of the indigenous Austronesian people. The major religions in the country are Christianity and Islam which have played a significant role in shaping the culture of the Philippines. Presentation title 6

Social Beliefs and Customs The social beliefs and customs practiced in the Philippines are primarily influenced by religion and demographics of the region where they practiced. The traditional customs of the indigenous Filipinos are based on the beliefs of the Austronesian inhabitant of the Philippines. Presentation title 7
