David Doubilet David was born in New York in 1946, and graduated from Boston University in 1970 . He has a daughter called Emily, studying in Oberlin college. He has photographed over 60 stories for the national geographic magazine . He has won many awards such as the Lennart Nilsson award, and has wrote books called fish face (2003) and the kingdom of coral ; Australia's great barrier reef. (national geographic, 2002)

Background He started photographing aquatic animals at the age of 12 . As a teenager, he took many photographs in New Jersey and the Caribbean, where he had photographed stingrays; this is where his passion grew for photography and underwater life. He has worked in the cold waters of coral underwater worlds all his life; it is what he enjoys the most. He has worked in Japan, Tasmania and Scotland, but most recently he has been working in the Okavango Delta system in Botswana and the St. Lawrence river, some of the freshest ecosystems in the world.
