PIEZO ELECTRIC EFFECT PHYSICS (2110014) Civil Department Amiraj College Of Engineering & Technology

Guided by :- Medha shah Prepared by:- Prashant Nandpal -(151080106012)

C ontain Piezoelectric crystal Piezoelectric Effect inverse Piezoelectric Effect applications

what is Piezoelectric crystal???? Crystal like quartz, tourmaline, rochelle salt etc cut with their faces perpendicular to its optic axis is known as Piezoelectric crystal.

what is Piezoelectric Effect???? When pressure and tension applied to one pair of piezo electric crystal, the opposite charges appear across its faces this effect is known as piezo electric effect.

what is inverse Piezoelectric Effect???? If an alternating voltage applied to the pair of opposite sides of piezo electric crystal, crystal starts vibrating and also produce the ultrasonic sound its known as inverse Piezoelectric Effect.

The History of Piezo The name Piezo originates from the Greek word piezein , which means to squeeze or press. The piezoelectric effect was first proven in 1880 by the brothers Pierre and Jacques Curie.

Converse of Piezoelectric effect is used in Quartz watches

Piezoelectric Microphone sound sensor sound waves bend the crystal creates a changing voltage.

Used in ultrasonic transducers medical ultrasound imaging Non Destructive Tests in constructions
